    I purchased travel insurance for a sleep-away camp, ******** **** *** ********** in ** *****************************************************. Travel Insured International had a link through the camp website to buy insurance should my child not be able to attend. My daughter was unable to attend due to health reasons. As a member of the ******** *****, I was on strike and out of work involuntarily, which made me eligible for reimbursement. Travel Insured repeatedly delayed processing my claim for months and eventually denied my claim on the grounds that I had not attended the camp and slept there myself. My daughter was a minor at the time, age 17, and the camp is exclusively for kids aged 15-17, as you can see on the website. Therefore, there is no possible way for any parent to attend this camp with their kids, so Travel Insured International has no business selling their services through the camp website. Their services are clearly deceptive, and they should pay me what was promised: $7200 (see attached documents)

    Our daughter developed a medical condition shortly before her trip that prevented travel. This was verified by her doctor in the month before and after cancellation. Travel Insured denied our medical cancellation because she did not go to the doctor on the same day that we cancelled. I find this ridiculous and unethical. Watch out for a company looking to evade responsibility based on minutiae that are not clearly worded in the plan documentation. This was a legitimate claim that should have been honored. Add to that very poor follow up and communications, having to prove that I purchased insurance when I already had a claim, etc. So much wasted time. I would never choose Travel Insured again.

    Review ID: ******  Based on the information provided for the review of the claim, the insured’s physician advised they were medically unfit to travel beginning in January. The insured continued to make payments on their trip, indicating their intent to travel as planned. Per the plan document Trip Cancellation benefits are eligible for reimbursement if the Sickness “a) occurs before departure on Your Trip, b) requires Medical Treatment at the time of cancellation resulting in medically imposed restrictions, as certified by a Legally Qualified Physician, and c) and prevents Your participation in the Trip;”. According to the physician’s note, there was no medical treatment between the date of the last payment and the date of cancellation and the treatment occurring in March was well after cancellation. Therefore, payment is not eligible under this benefit. The claim was reviewed under the Cancel For Any Reason benefit and payment was issued on April 11, 2024. While we sympathize with the insured’s situation, we are required to review all claims based on the terms and conditions of the plan.
