    Eversource 2021

    The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

    On 10/27/2021, the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) approved an agreement between The State of Connecticut and Eversource. This accountability plan seeks to address State identified deficiencies in Eversource’s handling of their response to Tropical Storm Isaias, improve Connecticut governances within Eversource, and to stabilize electric distribution rates until at least January 2024 for Connecticut consumers.

    Under the agreement, Eversource will return $65 million dollars back to the customers in the form of credits on the December 2021 and January 2022 bills. An additional $10 million dollars from Eversource will be directed to assist customers having difficulty paying their bills, while an already established $28.4 million will continue to appear as a credits on all customer bills. This existing credit showing on bills as “TS Isaias Performance Penalty” is the result of a prior PURA penalty that Eversource, under this new agreement, has promised not to appeal.

      After having a really difficult time financially, we were placed on the New Start program through Eversource. Our payments were $365 per month, and after a few months of being on it they re-evaluated our usage and upped our monthly payment to over $500 per month. I called and explained I couldn't pay this amount and was told to pay the $365 and then the balance would roll to the next month and when I paid the next month it would cover the balance from the prior month and it would be ok. It was not, they kicked us off New Start. I had to reapply for New Start which took a few months. Upon being approved again, I was told by an Eversource rep that the New Start program was now new and improved and that the rates were fixed and would NOT increase. I have uploaded the email stating this as well. My payment was $345 a month and fixed for 10 months. If paid on time after the 10 months my balances would be forgiven and we would go back to 0.00.. our bill went up over $500 again. I called and have been told that I’m wrong, it’s always been based off usage and they are telling me there is nothing they can do to help me. Even though in the email it also states “we are here to help” saying if I was unable to make the payment of $345 they would help me. I’ve called, I’ve begged they will not help me. I live in a small home, and paying Eversource over $500 per month will mean I can not feed my children. Im at a complete loss and do not know what to do as I know they will kick me off the program again. I asked if I could email my proof stating my payment would be $345 per month for 10 months and I was told that they don’t have emails and if I upload it to their document center it won’t matter because I’m wrong, I was told wrong, and I owe what I owe and they do not care and have zero options to help me out. I just want to pay them the original amount of $345 that was agreed upon as it’s all I can afford at this time and is already at the top of my budget. Please help me

      Eversource lost my check during their recent upgrade. They told me the check had been returned to the bank. It has not. They threatened to turn off my power if I did not pay the bill again. They also added a late fee. I always pay my bill on time and never had a problem sending a check for payment before. I have been a Eversource customer for well over 30 years and never had this problem before. Very unhappy with the way I was treated! While I'm at it I would like to be counted as another customer who does not want them to add $40 to my bill each month to pay for people who don't pay their bills. Their rates are some of the highest in the country and they need to figure out something else.
