Complaint: I bought my daughter a car that I was told was in great condition and was checked and in good running order The first thing that went wrong was the alternator two days after I bought it mr ****** replaced it but I had to pay almost two hundred to fix then brakes went and mechanic said brakes had been started but never finished the window wouldn't work and now the engine is failing
Desired Settlement: I would just like my money back and return the car so I can get her something that runs or exchange it fit the loaner car I used when the first thing broke
Business Response: Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/03/21) */ ****** came to me looking for a $2000.00 car. I told her that I happened to have a car on the lift that I was currently working on. Prior to the sale of the car, we installed a new muffler and wheel bearing, new radiator overflow tank; replaced the battery; did an oil & filter change and antifreeze. After that work was complete, ****** took the vehicle for a test drive. She came back stating that her mechanic looked at the car and told her it was good. She felt comfortable enough at that time to purchase the vehicle "as is" with 196k miles. A safety inspection was also done before it left my shop. Under CT state law, my obligations to her were fulfilled once she signed the "as is" section on the purchase order. However, the next day, she called me stuck at ********* in Bristol. I immediatley went there; jumped started the car and drove it back to my shop. I found the alternator was bad; causing the car to stall. I told her that she would just need to pay for the part, and I would cover the labor cost. She agreed. While her car was being repaired, I gave her a loaner vehicle to use, free of charge. She came and picked her car up upon completion of repair and paid for the part. That was the last I heard of ******* until I received this complaint. After reading the complaint, I immediately contacted ******, wondering why she hadn't contacted me prior to the BBB. I offered to buy the car back from her, no questions asked, and she accepted my offer. My business is based on honesty and integrity; and my ultimate goal is always 100% customer satisfaction. Although the car sale did not meet ******'s expectations, I hope she is now satisfied and I apolgize for any inconvenience. - ****** ******
