A disappointing encounter overall. The project (a kitchen/dining room renovation) was started in May 2021 and Brendan gave me a timeline attached to his contract, which listed out when each phase would be started and completed. His contract and web site both note, "time if of the essence" and reiterate how important the client is. My project was supposed to be complete by the end of June 2021 according to his timeline. Very quickly I started receiving excuses as to why he wasn't showing up. Most of the time when he didn't show up there was no explanation at all, nor any communication. Days of not showing up turned into weeks of not showing up. I had to text or call several times before receiving a reply. When he would eventually come by, I tried to make sure he planned on completing everything and he reassured me that he would never leave the job unfinished. In September, I sent a text to let him know we were expecting company the last weekend in October and that I would really love to have the project complete before then. He said it was still a priority for him and that he would get it completed ASAP. After several more weeks of ignoring my follow up texts, he came over one Saturday for a little over two hours and then left. The project remained unfinished, our guests came and went, and I haven't heard from Brendan since. It's now November and I've given up on trying to ask him when it'll be done because there's no point. I wouldn't recommend Brendan to anyone unfortunately, which is a shame, because I had high hopes that he was reliable, as he appeared to talk the talk, just didn't end up walking the walk.
