This company is a scam!!!! They are representing a cable company out of ***and trying to get funds from us that we already paid to the company in *** I faxed numerous pages totaling a charge of $28.00 to Eastern. I don't even think they looked into our complaint against WOW in *** They just sent us another letter seeking payment. WHY THE HELL SHOULD I PAY DOUBLE FOR SOMETHING ALREADY PAID FOR!?!?!?!?!?!?! My husband & I are retired, have worked diligently to maintain a good credit rating and now we have to put up with this BS. In reading the other complaints, it sounds that even if we did pay this debt they would still leave the fee against our credit. They would not clear it. I have already reported WOW-***to our local Government Center. Apparently they have had numerous complaints that they now have the information on the bottom of their statements to contact our local Gvt Ctr regarding FCC regulations & complaints against them. WOW has outsourced to India and each time I called to try to resolve our bill I was told different stories as to why there was still an outstanding balance. First it was for equipment not returned which I had tracking notification that it was received by them, from a payment in September, to a payment in December. They never could get their story straight and the major amount that Eastern is trying to collect from us is so called LATE FEES. We stopped service with WOW in September 2023. We have been fighting the BS since then. Seriously people, have you nothing better to do than scam people out of $$. Hope you can sleep well at night knowing you are not following protocol and reviewing complaints that legitimate customers send to you.Eastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. Response

Eastern Account System cannot adjust or alter the balance placed in collections. We do allow 40+ days after the initial notice is mailed to dispute, validate or pay the debt owed. All disputes received are forwarded to our client and Validation is requested. Validation of the debt was provided by our client and sent to you. After making two payments to settle my debt, they still not have removed the debt from my credit report I called to ask when they would report again. They told me the 13th of every month today is the 18th and I found out that they put back a balance on my account, so apparently they can report whenever they want but they don’t want to report the right information for me Which is a violation of the fair credit reporting actEastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. Thank you for your feedback. You were seeking credit bureau deletion. Eastern does not do “pay for delete”;this violates our contract with the credit bureaus if we remove entries without just cause. Updates are sent to the credit bureaus, you were advised of this by several representatives. Please allow time for the bureaus to update their records.Review from Slater S

Got a letter in the mail saying I had a "debt" with comcast from when I was in the army 6 months prior, (when I turned off my internet service in the barracks). I called and they said that the debt was already paid off. I asked them what it was for and couldn't provide any details that weren't in the letter. They even talked in circles when I asked how much was the debt in the first place. Felt scammy as all hell, so I started doing some research. And what do you know? Scumbag company that buys debts from companies at a super low rate, sends letters and calls trying to get you to pay the debt so they can make profits off you. Quite glad I researched and asked questions. If I were a younger man, I would have just absentmindedly just paid them to clear any debts. You paid this directly to Eastern in January 2021. You called in January 2024 and we verified that the account was indeed paid in full. Eastern Account System is a third party collection agency that works on the original creditor's behalf. Eastern does not purchase debt. Eastern takes great pride in our reputation, our approach and we maintain compliance; we are not a scumbag collection agency.Review from Jamie P

Eastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. sent me fraudulent collection for *** cable Inc. Funny how these Liberal left out their address on the collection document, which actually makes the collection null and void. Working on getting them audited. Filled complaint with the IRS, they are using this for write-offs They seem to be doing quite a bit of fraud for *** ***** **** Maybe they will get indited along with *** cables CEO & Chief Technology officer. Stay away from any business using the BBB these companies only have them to try to keep things out of court, and never sign an arbitration agreement for work on your home. We are working to get arbitration contracts BAN in ********* This collection agency has been reported to the Consumer protection agency, IRS, and the FTC. Along with Senators & Representatives of Michigan, Connecticut, and ****, also each state attorneys general office received this, or part or, all of this correspondence. Eastern Account System is a third party collection agency that works on the original creditor's behalf. A notice was sent to you regarding a debt, the letter does indeed include our address. There is a lot of information provided on our notice, maybe it was missed. Eastern Account System does not participate in fraudulent activity. Per **** the original creditor the balance placed in collections is valid and owed. Validation of the debt owed will be mailed to you. We did place the account on hold to allow you time to receive the validation and research your dispute. When advised of the balance owed, you stated that you refuse to pay that you made a previous payment and refuse to pay any more than that. Eastern Account System maintains compliance and we take great pride in that. Politics do not play a role in the way we do business. Thank you for input though.Review from Matt M

Illegally file false billing owed on credit without due diligence to confirm legit or not and it’s not legit and illegal to file false information. Do your job. Funny how ******* said wrong and I have a credit on my account but these lazy people don’t know how to confirm if debt is due or not. We paid what we were told was our final balance and closed our account with our electric company when we moved. Later, they alleged we still owed them, but failed to send us a bill. The account was finally turned over to Eastern Account Systems, who also failed to contact us, resulting in a derogatory report to my credit. It was quite by accident that I discovered this report. This company does not follow state specific guidelines for collections and uses the following illegal actions for collections: Abusive collection tactics Threats of violence or other criminal acts Use of profane language or obscenities Use of false names and misidentification Providing no name on a collections call or e-mail Misrepresenting the amount of a debt Failing to identify who holds the debt False accusations of consumer fraud or other crimes by the debtor Threats of arrest or repossession of property Trying to collect unjustifiable amounts Please note if you are considering using this servicer for your collections they have stated that you are liable and they do not care if their actions cause a lawsuit for you.Eastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. I contacted this company about a pay for deletion. Before I called I was looking over my credit report. And noticed 2 accounts were still reporting. I called them(eastern account system) but actually after the call I realized I called the wrong company. So when I called and explained that I spoke with a previous agent about a pay for deletion. Liz decided to be super condescending and rude and the entire call I was extremely nice to her. She was super confrontational and I don’t appreciate that. Although I called the wrong company she didn’t have to be as rude as she was especially since I was super nice to her and she even hung up in my face when I asked to speak with a supervisor. It’s obvious she’s not happy with her life or job. I am still waiting to speak with a supervisor about this matter. This is absolutely unacceptable.Eastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. This company should be held accountable for their actions regarding filing derogatory credit reports without doing any due diligence of effort to actually to collect a debt. I had a random medical bill for $93 form 18 moths ago that never made it to my door. Eastern Account Systems have levied 15 derogatory reports to my credit in 12 months without every trying to contact me. When I finally noticed this I called them immediately and dealt with a very rude debt collector who couldn't even find me in the system. When we eventually got to the bottom of it, they claimed my address was invalid and could not send out a notice for collection?!?! My address was actually accurate in their system so which is the truth? They need to be held accountable for their reporting practices.Eastern Account System of Connecticut, Inc. Response
