BBB Names Torch Award Recipients

Concord, NH, May 10, 2012 -- The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of NH awarded three businesses the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics on Tuesday, May 8th at the Radisson Hotel Ballroom in downtown Manchester, NH. The Torch Awards recognize for-profit, New Hampshire businesses that are committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships.

The 2012 BBB Torch Awards were awarded to Healthy Homes Today of Chester, NH, for the small business category; Bill Trombly Plumbing, Heating & Cooling of Manchester, medium category; and RCD Components of Manchester, large business category.

“The Torch Award Ceremony is a very special event,” stated Robert Shomphe, President/CEO of the BBB of New Hampshire. “Being able to honor businesses that excel in advancing marketplace trust is a truly fulfilling part of this job.”

All for-profit businesses were welcome to apply for the BBB Torch Award. An independent panel of judges selected the nine finalists (three finalists in small, medium and large business categories). The winners of each category were presented the BBB crystal Torch Award by the BBB Board Chairman, Howard Brodsky CEO of CCA Global Partners and Robert Shomphe.

Howard Brodsky, recently named NH Magazine’s 2012 Business Leader of the Year was the keynote speaker at this year’s event and spoke about the success businesses can attain by doing the unexpected for their consumers.

Also recognized were the four, BBB Student Ethics Scholarship Recipients, who each received $2,500 toward continuing their education. The scholarships went to Laura Gardocki of Londonderry, attending UNH; Margo Cassidy of Bedford, Eastern University; Andrew Colacchio of Hampton Falls, George Washington University; Aaron Pentheny of Litchfield, Rochester Institute of Technology.
