Additional Notes

Complaint Category: Sales presentation used dishonest sales practices

Complaint: Issue with the finance person not letting me read the contract, just pointed quickly and said sign here and initial here.
I was in to purchase a new vehicle and was never spoken to about the value of my trade just they could make it work. When I sat down with the finance person he was busy telling me his sad story and quickly pointed to where to sign and initial paperwork without letting me look anything over. Quickly pulled it away and went on to the next one. He also was asking me to bring in my other car so he could look it over in case he wanted to buy it before I traded it in.

Initial Business Response
Please accept this as AutoFair Honda's response to the complaint filed by ***** **** with your bureau. On Saturday, October 12th, Mr. **** was in the dealership and decided on a 2014 Honda Odyssey which was not on AutoFair's lot, it was a locate vehicle. At that time, Mr. **** signed a document that clearly displayed the cost of the vehicle, as well as the trade-in value ** was receiving on his 2012 vehicle. Mr. **** admitted to ***** *******, General Manager, in an email that the salesman, ****, gave him said document and explained to him that it was showing the price on the new vehicle and his trade.
On Monday, October 14th, Mr. **** returned to the dealership to take delivery of the 2014 Honda Odyssey. At that time, ** sat down with the Finance Manager and signed all the paperwork which included a Retail Installment Contract as well as the Buyers Order. Both of these documents clearly show the amount that was given for his trade; Mr. **** signed both.
Mr. ****'s was given fair market trade-in value for his 2012 Odyssey. Kelley Blue Book trade-in value ranges from $27,576 to $32,276. When taking a vehicle in on trade, we look at this information as well as the current market value of the vehicle. If Mr. **** had sold his vehicle to another person (Private Party) Kelley Blue Book value estimates $30,950 to $35,150 to be its value.
Again, Mr. **** signed 3 separate documents (1st on 10/12 and the other 2 on 10/14) all of which clearly show the amount given for his trade. Mr. **** had every opportunity to review the paperwork before signing and agreeing to the terms. I have included copies of all 3 documents for your review. I am sorry if Mr. **** is not happy with the amount he was given for his trade. However, based on the current market, this amount was fair.
** **** *****
