Complaint: Business sold a defective item, a computer heat sink and fan, that upon installation, broke, and also broke the bracket on the motherboard that it was being installed on.When I spoke with a representative, I was told that no refunds or restitution would be forthcoming because "I told you to make sure it would fit before you opened it." When I attempted to convey that the purchased product broke during installation, and cause the further damage to the computer, I was told that there was nothing that could be done, and to "come in to the store another time when another technician could help".
Desired Settlement: Replacement of defective purchased item, the heat sink and fan, and the now broken motherboard.ORReimbursement for the cost of the purchased item, $20, and the now useless motherboard, approximately $60 value.
Had not responed sooner than now as we had recently changed our internet service provider and e-mails coming in correctly have been an issue up to now.
On 2-7-2014 Customer bought CPU Heatsink/with Fan.
Customer broke his motherboard mounting bracket upon attempting to install new Heatsink/with Fan.
Customer called 10 mins before closing and wanted to get a mounting bracket.
He was told that all of the techs were gone for the day and we could get him one in the morning after 9:00am.
He then made complaint with BBB that night.
Customer came in the next moring and bought a mounting bracket for his motherboard and I allowed him to swap the CPU Heatsink/with fan for another one like it even though the one he brought back showed no sign of any problem and had not been fully engaed on a
He seemed pleased and I have not heard anything otherwise.
Seems strange that someone would lodge a complaint before trying to resolve there issue.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
