Complaint: Uptown Inc is in charge of the Columbus, GA whitewater course and its advertising. The Whitewater course is described as 2.5 miles of urban whitewater. The reality is that less than half of that length is actual whitewater. At low flow there is an entire mile of completely flat water before the rapids start... Example: at one point, my raft began floating backwards upstream, pushed by the wind...The course may be 2.5 miles long, but it most certainly is not AT ALL 2.5 miles of whitewater. It is terribly misleading to those people who come a long distance to go down AND who are unfamiliar with the course. The commercial that has been going around is misleading. This most certainly is not anywhere near 2.5 miles of urban whitewater. More like one mile if measured rapid by rapid. I would have no problem if they just called it Urban Whitewater or whatever gimmick-y name, but when you add the scientific measurements of "2.5 miles of urban whitewater", its a flat out lie.

Desired Settlement: A refund on my 2 whitewater tickets purchased... doubt it will happen though.

I spoke with ******* regarding the complaint.


Last season Whitewater express sent over 17,000 people rafting down the Chattahoochee. The river is advertised as Mild to Wild. At the mild or low flow - lazy river is advertised and someone as young as 7 years old could raft the river at this flow. The distance from the put in to the take out is approximately 2.5 miles all of which is in the city of Columbus, urban whitewater. Uptown Columbus doesn’t take reservations for rafting or schedule rafting trips. Therefore we are unable to issue this gentleman a refund. If he desires a refund they will need to contact Whitewater Express.
