Columbia, SC, November 12, 2013 -- The Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Central SC and Charleston awarded two businesses the Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics on Thursday, November 7th at Seawell’s Banquest & Reception Center in Columbia, SC. The Torch Awards recognize for-profit, South Carolina businesses that are committed to maintaining exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships.
The 2013 BBB Torch Awards were awarded to Clyde Nettles Roofing & Painting, for the small business category; and Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, large business category.
“The Torch Award Ceremony is a very special event,” stated Jim Camp, President/CEO of the BBB Serving Central SC and Charleston. “Being able to honor businesses that excel in advancing marketplace trust is a truly fulfilling part of this job.”
All for-profit businesses were welcome to apply for the BBB Torch Award. An independent panel of judges selected the 12 nominees. The winners of each category were presented the BBB crystal Torch Award by the BBB Board Chairman, Jennifer Harding of Russell and Jeffcoat Realtors and Jim Camp.
Patrick DeMouy, M.B.A, USC Darla Moore School of Business was the keynote speaker at this year’s event and spoke about the success businesses can attain by giving personal attention to their consumers.
