Complaint Reservation made for a car rental. Confirmation received via email. Two days later my reservation was cancelled. New reservation costing much more. I had a car rental reservation with Dollar rent a car in Hilo Hawaii for Dec 31,2014 to Jan. 04,2015. Total reservation was for $428.70. On Sat. 05/03/14 I found Hawaii Discount.com and saw they also made car reservations. I checked to see if they could beat the price I had reserved my car for. They quoted me a price of $187.54 for the same dates and times. I knew I could cancel my first reservation at no cost, so I booked the car with Hawaii Discount. I was sent an email saying "Your order is currently pending. This message is not a confirmation or a ticket. You will receive another voucher email with your ticket information. If you do not receive your voucher within 24 hours, please check your spam or junk email folder. Your voucher number is X-XXXXXX. About 90 minutes later I received another email saying "Thank you for your order from www.hawaiidiscount.com These are your tickets. Please print this page..." At this point I went and cancelled my first reservation with Dollar rent a car. Then, two days later I received another email saying " Aloha! I do apologize but at this time we cannot confirm this reservation. Please check back closer to the end of the year. We have credited the card back in full. ***** Hawaii Discount www.hawaiidiscount.com XXX XXX XXXX Now the rental rates are about $850 for the same dates and times. I telephoned Hawaii Discount for an answer as to why my order was cancelled and why the rate hike. I spoke to a lady named ***** who said she was a supervisor who had personally called the car rental company for my order. ***** said there were no compact cars available, only mid size SUV's costing over $800.00. I told her I had a previous reservation with Dollar rent a car, but I had cancelled it once I received her confirmation email. She said she was sorry, but there was nothing she could do for me. I told her I felt like my reservation with Hawaii Discount was cancelled once they realized the availability of vehicles was diminishing causing clients to re-book at a much higher rate. She denied this and offered no further assistance.
Desired Settlement Hawaii Discount should have to pay the difference between my original reservation of $411.00 and a new reservation of about $850.00.
Business Response The car company cancelled the reservation on Hawaiidiscount.com, therefore we had to cancel it with you. We have set prices. We wanted to keep the order but was told after we completed the order with the car co., that is was being cancelled. We gave 100% refund.
Complaint I tried to book a Luau for (4) days prior to recieve the advertized discount. I finally booked on line the day before and was charged the full price. I tried to book a luau in Oahu for August 24th. I attempted to call the company at 3 different times and recived (1) call back with a message. When I called back to inquire about the discount, the company said they couldnt process my request. So, after (3) days of attempting to call in my order, I was forced to use the internet to process the order; I was afraid it would sell out waited any longer. When I called customer service, they said it was too late, since we had attended the luau and I was already back home just two days later and that I had booked it online, therefore, the discount didnt apply. I feel this was a scam to get you to use the online order at $75 but advertise the lower $63 price. Buying (6) tickets and (2) child tickets, it makes quite a diffeence to my bill.I was scammed out of $72 in savings.
Desired Settlement I would like to get the difference of $72 savings that I feel owed for your companies failed attemp to take my phone order forcing me to buy my tickets online the day before the event.
Business' Initial Response Contact Name and Title: **** ******** Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXX Contact Email: ****@hawaiidiscount.com The Customer had to call in to get the discount. We have never had a problem with this discount but we are not allowed to discount online. Customer has to call in to get the discount. Customer ordered online and paid list price. This was for Paradise Cove luau. This is their policy and we would lose the contract if we discount online.
