In July 2023 I buried my husband at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, today ( March 7, 2024), I went to the cemetery because my parents are buried there and it was my mother‘s birthday. What I saw at my husband‘s grave, no grass, no dirt, filled with water. Since last July I have been to the office several times at the cemetery asking and almost begging for someone to seed my husband‘s grave, I was told it will be next week, it’ll be done by Monday, give us three or four more days and the last one it’ll be done by the end of September. Nothing was ever done . I am of the opinion that the people running this cemetery have absolutely no idea of the grieving process nor do they have any compassion for the grieving families of the deceased. I am having a bit of a hard time with my husband‘s death, but I am healing and go to the cemetery often. I would love it to be a place where I could remember my husband and all of our fond memories, we were married for 59 years. But the cemetery looks a mess. There are branches everywhere and it’s very hard sometimes to walk, there are leaves that were never raked up from the Fall in piles here and there I don’t know if they were blown or piled there. It’s just very sad to look at and it’s not a very dignified or serene place. I left the cemetery, crying all the way home, because I felt very guilty of placing my loving husband in a place that was supposed to be restful and peaceful but it’s nothing more than a hole in the ground. I have pictures but did not know how to upload them to here.

Please accept my sincerest apologies regarding this matter. Usually we put seed down, but we picked up some sod to take care of this matter more quickly. Please try not to walk on the sod for a couple of months, especially if we have had a lot of rain. This could keep the sod from taking and create more issues.

I have received an apology from the cemetery. They sent me a picture of the grave filled in and sod planted on top. I am very satisfied and I thank them.
