James ***** at Stony Point apartments is managed by Zaremba. The lead property manager Nicole ****** is difficult to work with. I was a tenant for 2 years, with no major issues until move out. Nicole struggles to keep a schedule and often misdirects maintenance employees. On move out day, I requested a walkthrough with Nicole or another Zaremba employee. The walkthrough was scheduled for August 29, 2021 at 4pm. When I arrived at the unit that afternoon, the door was unlocked and personal possessions were missing. The maintenance personnel was extremely apologetic for what they called “missed communication” even though their actions violated the lease agreement. The maintenance employees addressed my questions regarding whether or not I would receive my security deposit back or to expect additional charges. According to the employee, the carpet in the unit was past the lifespan (5-7 years VA law). Nicole stated we would receive our security deposit in 60-90 days. The security deposit never arrived and instead I received a $150 bill for carpet expenses. When I asked for additional details, I never received a return phone call and received a letter from a collections agency 5 months later.
