Complaint: I moved into the apt.complex in nov 1 2013 apt 540. I had a small dog and paid a 300.00 dollar deposit plus $30.00 extra a month with my rent. On december 7 of 2013 I had to put my dog to sleep. I asked the office manager about getting my deposit back or most of it back. She said that would be determined at the end of my lease.When I contacted Coventry Management about it when I moved I talked to ****** ***********. He tried to claim I had my sons dog there I told him my son brought him over once but not in the building because he was a boxer and to big. I told him I watched my friends little dog when she went to the casino. There was no damage to the carpet or the apt. The carpet was 12 to 14 years old to begin with and they said I would get new carpet if I renewed my lease which I didn't because of being bitten numerous times by bed bugs.When I moved I threw my leather couch and chair out. In which I could have used that pet deposit for helping to buy a new couch to sit on.I'm almost 67 years old and find it hard to believe they wouldn't refund my money for having a dog that was there only 1 month.
Desired Settlement: Would like to get my deposit back for my pet or pro-rated amount.
Business Response: On 11/18/14 **** ***** sent ***** **** her security deposit of $550 with no deductions based on her move out on 10/31/14. The pet deposit of $300 is an automatic forfeit for redecoration. ***** **** signed the contract agreeing to this forfeit on 9/20/13. There is no legal reason to give a 'pro rated' amount of this deposit back but to settle this account we will in good faith make an offer of $150. If ***** **** wishes to settle this dispute for $150 as full and final payment we would agree. Thank you, ***
