Additional Complaint Information

This firm first came to the Cleveland BBB's attention in August 2007 when the BBB began receiving complaints from inmates who had paid between $30 and $50 to place personal ads through the company and choose up to five female pen pals. The company's brochure states it has over 3,000 female members who will supply photos and are willing to accept correspondence from inmates. Complainants state the firm has cashed their checks but has not run ads or sent the ordered photos. In cases where photos were sent, the addresses for the members were not current and mail was returned by the Post Office as undeliverable. Complainants further state the company has not responded to written requests inquiring about the status of their order. Some complainants did receive a response from the company that stated they are backlogged due the overwhelming response to their offer.

The address for the firm is a mail box at a UPS Store.

In December 2007, the BBB spoke with a representative of the company who claimed that the company has no control over the mail that prison inmates receive. The company promised to issue refunds to those inmates whose checks were cashed but did not receive their order and promised to respond to complaints sent by the BBB. The BBB had not received these responses in December; however, in late February of 2008, the company began to send responses to complaints and contacted the BBB again, stating it would respond to the unanswered complaints and issue refunds. However, most inmates have reported that the promised refunds were not received.

The BBB continues to receive complaints from inmates whose payments to the company have been deposited but have not received the photos or had their ads posted.  

As of June 8, 2011, the company's toll-free number, 888-622-9461, rings busy for several seconds before disconnecting.  Mail to the company's Post Office Box address has not been returned by the Post Office as undeliverable.  The company's Web site is still operational.

On February 27, 2012, a company representative told BBB that their Web site was being redesigned and its toll free number would be removed from the site.
