      Received a deal from Lowe’s for a tune up special through Sal’s. Scheduled said first available was 2-1/2 months away. Tech Husni Ahmad shows up 2/7/24 and spends 20 minutes looking at the furnace. Calls us downstairs to tell us that it’s leaking refrigerant and that multiple parts were wrong to the point it was unsafe and needed replaced. Especially the inducer motor which was testing at 2.24 amps and should only be 0.47. Then heavily tried to push a $12k replacement on us. Kept saying we wanted an estimate sent to us and we’d review. Continued to push us to the point we flat out said no and that we’d be in touch if we changed our minds. Called a different company for a second opinion. They showed up same day and spent over an hour looking and testing. He shows me all of his results and says there is nothing wrong. This tech confirms the inducer is at 2.24 but then shows me the tag on the front saying it should be 2.35. Not the 0.47 Sal’s said. The Sal’s tech never even cleaned or tuned up anything. It all had to be cleaned by the second company/ tech. Second tech also said that the quote from Sal’s was likely wrong since nothing was even measured and seemed like it would extremely oversized for our home. Stay far away from Sal’s. They won’t actually clean or tune up anything. They’ll just look at your current furnace and say it’s dangerous to try and scare you into a sale. Absolutely ridiculous that a company will lie straight to your face and try to scare you by saying you run the risk of a fire if you don’t do it. And then pressure you for 30 minutes until you tell them NO and would call if we wanted their business to work on our home. All of this while being told “well I’m not a salesman”. Nothing but snake oil salesmen who don’t do what they’re contracted to do

      We've used Sal's to replace our furnace and a hot water tank. Recently, there was a "noise" coming from the furnace when the blower kicked on. We called, they came out same day and took care of the issue. They did a complete inspection and even changed the batteries in the thermostat while they were here. As in previous experiences with Sal's, they were on time, courteous, knowledgeable and got the job done. We'd recommend Sal's every time. Pat G

      Date Wed, Dec 20 2023 at 7:47 PM The thermostat for the furnace malfunctioned. I bought it at the auction in 2017. It is supposedly under a ten year warranty. It appears we have been scammed by your company. Someone came to fix the unit on 12/20/23. We went through hell with your schedulers. They were VERY incompetent. The man who came to service the unit was ok, but he did not know how to wire the thermostat correctly. They are telling us someone can come on the 28th. What kind of company are you people running? They told me the warranty covered parts but not labor. I paid over $600 for labor and the thermostat is not functioning properly. I am looking into reporting this to anyone who will listen.       They came out when they wanted. Never gave any kind of time frame. We had two drains that needed attention and they didn’t fix either of them. The guy said our house beat him. What does that even mean? He charged us for five hours of labor while he was gone for lunch for half of that. We paid 500 dolllars and they fixed nothing. Then after he left our drain overflowed just to make it worse. We paid a lot of money for nothing.

      Thanks, you for sharing your experience, when anyone call for service, we are very clear i will be an all-day appointment with a call on the way because of the unpredictability of repairs and this was agreed to before scheduling. We are an upfront company to avoid any surprises and disappointment. Glad we were able to fix you up and take care of the issue.       Very unprofessional company. Would never use them again or recommend to anyone. I was told that a water heater that had a groupon would work in my home. After purchasing the groupon and calling back with the code, I was told by someone else that it wouldn't work. I had already purchased the groupon and Sal's will not help at all to try to get my money refunded. The water heater that was originally going to be $949 ended up costing me over $2400.00. The person doing the install openly did not want to do it, complained and said I should get a thankless. He left the house door open all day. Very unprofessional. Other service people that we have since had in our home verified that it is not a good company.

      The phone staff was friendly and technician arrived on time. I had a thermostat that went out and requested someone come out to repair. I, however, had a poor experience for the following reasons: 1) Technician started out by telling me, after an initial glance at our HVAC systems, that they were very old and likely difficult to service 2) When he did look at the one HVAC system he was called to look at, repeatedly expressed how old the system was (that particular system was 9 years old). His exaggerated expressions of difficulty and challenge were red flags that he wanted to up sell me things I did not need 3) When he diagnosed the problem as a failure of the circuit board, told me that it would be not worth the price of replacement and that I should look at replacing the entire furnace and AC unit. 4) He looked at the other HVAC units that I have and said that all should be replaced 5) Looked at water around my water heater and said it was leaking and needed replacement. Asked for a quote and was given a $35000 quote to replace everything. 6) I paid $150 for "diagnosis" of the original problem (which was that a thermostat went out). He did not fix it. 7) I called another company. They diagnosed the problem as a wire that shorted the system. Replaced the wiring. Circuit board was intact. System worked immediately. Total charge was $300 to fix the problem. No need to replace a 9 year old system 8) This other company looked at the water heater and confirmed it was not leaking. The water on the ground was leakage from a condensation PVC pipe on the ground. Cost to repair $30. Floor is totally dry now. Summary: Wrong diagnosis, did not fix the problem, charged me for incorrect assessment and left me with a whole system replacement charge. I am surprised that the reviews have been so positive given my experience. My hope for this family run business is that this was an outlier and can be internally remedied. I will not use this service again

      Let me start by saying that staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They have the best technicians. That said, the way this company is run should be illegal. I got a brand new system put in 5 years ago. AC/heat pump and ductwork. There was an incident on install they accidentally blew through my ceiling. Patched it poorly, that's okay I know how to patch. Didn't cover my expensive paint. Moving on, system ran great for 3 years. Year 4 it fried my ecobee thermostat. Came to find out all the wiring shorted out. That cost me $600 in labor and diagnostics. They "fixed it" and then I lost two more 200 dollar thermostats in the next few days. They told me the thermostat was the issue and I needed to pay 200 dollars for their branded thermostat, obvious BS but I did it bc it was hot out. Running tally is $11,000 for install, $600 for wiring repairs and $600 for lost thermostats which they wouldn't cover. Year 5. Stopped cooling. Im currently about $800 into repairs and nothing has changed. Again the technicians are honest good people working for a bad company. Caught them scamming me on price, office lady told us the cost was for 2 laborers working for 4 hours. Had to send 2 for safety reasons. When one guy showed up I asked him why labor was $900 for one man working 4 hours and he called his office and it turns out they were charging us for a 350 dollar part that was supposed to be free under warranty. I do not believe that was a clerical error. Sal's is run by crooks. Their equipment is garbage. I tell everyone I know not to use them if HVAC comes up in conversation.

      We didn't see a review from 5 year ago, why not? . If we didn't patch to your satisfaction, we would have gladly made it right. this is the first this has been mentioned clearly, we have not moved on from this. We have called to discuss. We are sorry mechanical and electrical things fail and need to be repaired with a cost and to prevent this have annual service. All of our thermostats we supply are branded and are compatible when most box store supplied thermostats, are simply not. So no not BS. Keep in mind the running tally is all quoted and accepted upfront and note HVAC systems are very expensive with any qualified, certified licensed company in business for over 48 years. Everyone at Sal's is honest and trusted good people our reputation speaks for itself. You caught us scamming? We would be happy to explain our cost and if there is a warranty there are cost associated with that process to provide the part etc. If you don't understand the process, please don't mislead the public. To say we are run by crooks is libelous and pretty offensive. The equipment we offer is as good as it gets, we also don't manufacture it. We stand behind our workmanship and their warranty. We encourage you to tell anyone who thinks like this to use the competition, so it helps us to provide A1 service and installations for good people like us. Sal's

      I think that you will be more than pleased with Sal's Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Sewer. My contractor noted Sal's van in our building parking lot and we both called after having no luck with numerous contractors for a washer /dryer hook up in my new condo. Long story short, technicians did a quality job and I was pleased. I had a plumbing leak issue in my previous condo unit and needed a plumber again. The plumber/and maintenance man used by our building quoted an enormous price to fix a hidden leak Since I used Sal's previously, I called. The technician was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He detected the leak and determined that we needed caulking. What is important is the quality of the workmanship, the correct estimate for the job, and the courteous employees. I was pleased .
