Industry Tips
Photograph Studios/Photo Packages
When deciding whether you should do business with a particular photographer, consider the following:
* Get competitive prices and check references.
* Understand & keep copy of contract, 3-day right to cancel, if applicable, & warranty.
* Contract should include delivery date of proofs and finished photographs; product and service description; cost; method of payment; oral promises; warranty; company cancellation; and refund policy.
* Fill in all blanks before signing.
* A 3-day right to cancel applies in certain situations. If
you cancel under its terms, get written acknowledgement of your cancellation notice from the company, or send by certified mail, return receipt requested.
*Obtain a written contract that details every service to be provided and the name of the photographer who will shoot your event; the location, date and time length of all events; the type of package; a list of guaranteed prices for enlargements and any additional charges, like taxes or travel fees. The contract should also specify what happens if your photographer doesn’t show up, as well as the cancellation/refund policy.
