BBB indicated this business had a pattern of complaints concerning product issues, refund or exchange issues and customer service issues. According to some complaints, consumers stated they were dissatisfied with the quality of meat they received from the business and were unable to return the products for a refund or exchange. Some consumers also stated their calls to the business were not returned.
On November 22, 2013 BBB met with the business to discuss our concerns. The business told BBB that they switched to a new meat wholesale distributor in an effort to improve the quality of the meat. The business also implemented new return policies and presented these policies to the consumer at the time of purchase. The business also began documenting their internal complaint handling procedures to improve customer service.
A follow up review of the business's complaints found that although product complaints are on the decline, the business continues to receive complaints about the difficulty returning items and poor customer service. In addition, another pattern has emerged since last meeting concerning sales practice issues. According to complaints, some consumers state they were subjected to high pressure sales tactics and were targeted by the business because they were elderly. Consumers also state they were denied assistance or refunds because the salesperson that sold them the meat was a contractor and not an employee of the business.
On June 27, 2014 BBB notified the business of our concerns and requested their voluntary cooperation in eliminating the pattern of consumer complaints. As of today, the business has not responded to our request.
