Consumer Alert!

This company is conducting an advance fee loan scam.  The company offers loans in the amount of $5000 or more according to their website.  Consumers are required to pay fees upfront in order to receive the loan.  BBB's experience with companies of this nature is that the consumer does not receive the promised loan after paying the required security deposit or administrative fees.

The company also asks for highly sensitive financial information on the online loan application but has not taken the proper measures to ensure the safety of their customer's personal information.  Customers who submit their social security numbers and date of birth on the loan application run the risk of identity theft since the company's website is unsecured. 

No legitimate company will ask for funds in advance of a loan, nor will it ask for any fee to be wired to them directly by Western Union, Moneygram, or any other wire service.  Fees incurred in a legitimate loan generally are deducted from the loan amount before the funds are dispersed.

BBB has been unable to verify the company's registration status with the Ohio Secretary of State or the Ohio Department of Financial Institutions as required by companies in this industry.  BBB has been unable to reach a live person when calling this company.  Email sent to admin@eastrocklending.com was returned as undeliverable.  BBB contacted the administration offices for the building located at 309 Vine Street, Cincinnati OH and were told there is no tenant by the name of Eastrock Lending Service occupying offices in the building.

Any individual or business owner who suspects that he or she may have been victimized by this scam should file a complaint with the BBB. Victims are also strongly urged to contact their state's Attorney General's Office, their local police and the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov) at 877-382-4357 to file a complaint. 

Consumers report they have been instructed by the company to wire funds to persons in Canada.  Victims can also seek the assistance of the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Centre, otherwise known as PhoneBusters (www.phonebusters.com), by calling 888-495-8501.
