Problems with Product/Service

Complaint: I went to SMOQ restaurant with my mother this afternoon to pick up our carry out meal(s). We were instructed to go to the bar to receive our carry out, therefore we proceeded to the bar. The bartender purposely ignored us standing at the bar. There were five people at the bar who had been serviced, and he just took care of one as we approached the bar. He noticed us, but continued to ignore us. We were in eye shot of the bartender and I finally had to say something to him to receive his acknowledgement. After waiting 10 minutes, my mother proceeded to speak with the owner, **** ******, to inquire about the amount of help available for customers at the bar, and Mr. ****** became very sarcastic, nasty, and rude. As a business owner myself, I thrive on ensuring my customers are treated fairly and with the utmost respect. This is why I was taken aback by the behavior of the owner of the establishment (in front of other customers might I add). I overheard his comment to two other patrons telling how he could have arrested my mother for questioning the service of the restaurant. His behavior was unnecessary, unprofessional, and uncalled for. He never apologized for the behavior of his bartender who blatantly ignored us, nor was he remorseful about his lack of customer service to my mother. One last thing that was troublesome was when we arrived and another AA gentleman arrived for carryout, we were told to go to the bar, however when a caucasion patron arrived at the restaurant requesting carryout, they were serviced by the employees at the front who were seating people.This approach to customer service is unacceptable and must be addressed in a professional manner.
Desired Settlement: I want a written letter of apology for the despicable behavior of the owner, **** ****** directly from him. I also want a refund for the meal we ordered that came to a total of $50.71
Business Response: 7/26/13 Mr. ****** contacted BBB and stated that he emailed customer to resolve this complaint.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
