Complaint: My neighbor hired this company to do snow removal. The plow truck was driven into my privacy fence several times. The impact of the truck, the plow and all of the snow pushed against my fence has damaged my fence. My fence now has broken sections, splits throughout most of the wood, places where chunks of the fence have been removed, loose posts, bent posts, warped wood, loose nails, and is extremely loose. I contacted the company shortly after this happened, as soon as I noticed on 3/3/14. They assured me that they would do what was needed to make it right. Now they only want to replace 3 sections of the fence that have the worst damage. They refuse to replace any other parts that have been damaged due the snow removal they did. The entire integrity of the fence has been compromised. I am certain if it was kicked hard enough or the wind blew hard enough it would just fall over. The fence is less than 6 years old, the company is trying to claim that most of the damage is actually from age. The company acts as if they inspected my fence before they damaged it, and they certainly are not tying to resolve this issue in a fair or satisfactory manner. The employee who came out to determine the damage was also very rude.

Desired Settlement: I would like my entire privacy fence to be replaced. All but four sections have been damaged from their snow plow.

Business Response:

Let me start by stating that I completley understand why they are upset. It is my understanding that that their fence has been damaged by excess snow being pushed up against it. Our snow supervisor responded to there complaint and offered to repair what he believed to be damaged from our snow removal activity. The fence was also inspected by our customer and they agreed that what we were willing to repair was fair. At this point I am willing to hire Mills Fence or Pioneer Fence to access the situation and look to them for a recomendation. I would like to resolve this issue and repair what we damaged. We just dont believe that we damaged the entire fence. We feel that some of the issues the Bading's believe to be caused by the snow removal our actually normal traits of a wood fence. I would like to set a meeting with the Bading's and a representitive of one of the fence companies to come up with a resolution.

Consumer Response:

Just a few days ago they sent a fence company out to my house to repair some of the damage caused from their snow plow. They replaced one of the posts and several slats. They also rehinged the fence door so that it opens and closes properly. Unfortunately, my fence now does not match and looks rather goofy. This was the best resolution I could get without dragging them to court. Yes, the issue has been resolved, just not to my complete satisfaction.

BBB's Final Determination: After reviewing the position of all parties, BBB determined that the business made a reasonable effort to address the complaint. However the consumer remains dissatisfied.
