Complaint: I saw an advertisement for this company that claimed "free estimates" so my husband called on monday September 16th and explained we had a new house and we wanted the chimney looked at and possibly cleaned. They said they would send some right out. He even made sure to verify it was a "free estimate". The tech arrived did a great job and everything we expected but since he explained our chimney and fireplace were not usable without major repairs we of course decided it would be a waste of money to pay for a cleaning. When the tech was leaving he explained that we owed $80. Stunned and angry we demanded to speak to someone in charge, it was supposed to be a free estimate. After alot of back and fourth we ended up being forced to pay it. The reason being, the manager said he would have sent a different truck and a different employee if he had known we didnt need a cleaning. To me that is such garbage and just an excuse to get money out of people. If we were told we were going to be charged for sending an different employee/truck whether we needed a cleaning or not we clearly would have had the estimate done first and scheduled the cleaning for a later date. Shame on them for doing that to customers.
Desired Settlement: We would like our money back or at least for the company to know that they cannot treat people that way.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
