Complaint: I was in the store around the end of March 2014. I purchased a pair of red wing work boots. After a week of wear they fell apart the sole separated. They were a closeout item. But after spending a 150 dollars for a pair of boots you would expect a little more than a week out of them after two attempts of calling the store they say sorry there is nothing they can do for me. I feel if they sell a defected product they should honor the sell and replace the boot regardless of sale conditions. Selling a father of 6 kids spending what we consider a fair amount of money only to have to replace them a week later is unacceptable.

Desired Settlement: I would like to exchange the boot for one of equal or greater value. Or a full refund of my money. Like I mentioned before Im a father of six money is tight ill have to wear these defected boots until I can afford something else.

Dear BBB:

Thank you for giving us the chance to address your concerns. We appreciate our customers and want them to be satisfied with their purchases from our stores.

Our close out items are clearly marked no returns, and the customer is aware of the risk when they make the purchase. We do not want any customer to feel they have been deceived, so every effort is made to let the customer know that if they are agreeing to purchase an item marked down in price, and that they cannot return it once it has left our facility. Close outs cannot be returned because we can no longer send that item back to the manufacturer for credit.

We understand that this customer didn't feel his expectations were met by our company, so if the customer would like to bring the boots back to the manager at the store where they were purchased, we will evaluate them, and exchange or refund for this special situation.

Thank you again for reaching out and allowing us to address the situation and come to an agreeable settlement. 

Consumer Response: Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

 
I contacted the business already numerous times and was rejected any assistance.   I already tossed the boots.   And replaced them outta my own pocket.  I just wish this doesnt happen to someone else at this point.  I couldnt go any longer without boots for work to provide for my family.  My family has to do without noe bevause i had to replace the boots.
