Complaint: Paid for a trip to******* Maya Mexico Departure Date 6/29/2014 - 7/04/14 on May 19, 2014 for 3 adults, 1 being my mom who is 81. payment made via Debit Card and personal check. Included in payment was insurance that we could receive a refund for anycancellation issue. Passports **** ordered that same week. Mom ***************** received passports ** time but ***** was informed 10 days before departure that she needed to send an original birth certificate which she thought she had. The birth certificate had to be ordered from New York and would take 5 - 10 business days to arrive. We informed Alpha Travel -***** - of this new problem and asked to change trip dates. Unforunately there was no availability in the same hotel for the new dates July 20 or July 27. Alpha travel was asked to check into other options.***** finally returned my call and offered to send us to the same hotel complex (***************************) but in their Adults only Upgraded Hotel for $150.00 more per person. After discussion with all 3 of us, we said no to this option as we had already paid over $3000.00. Then***** said we could still go but only for 4 nights, not 5. We requested a refund on June 22,2014.***** said it would be requested on Monday June 23, 2014 but the money would have to be returned from *************** and then he would debit Mom's account and write ***** a check for her refund. On June 25,2014 Mom (*******) had a problem with her debit card involving fraud. She was advised by her bank to contact *************** herself to inform them of problem and give new numbers to be able to receive her refund.******* at *************** informed ******* that as of 6/25/2014 the trip for all three of us had never been cancelled by Alpha Travel Agency. ******* requested immediate cancellation to get refund process started. ******* was further informed that her refund would still go through her bank to the old card, be refused by the bank and sent back to****************.**************** would then issue ******* a check to be sent to her home address. Furthermore,***** had informed Linda on 6/23 that the insurance amount per person was $149.99. *************** informed ******* on 6/25/14 that the insurance amount was $109.99 per person. *************** operator******* contacted***** at Alpha Travel (while ******* was on hold-6/25) to explain issues and informed ******* that He would call one of us to reexplain how the refund will transpire. To date no call has been received.***** will not return phone calls and no refund has been received. Total Amount we are seeking is $3133.32 which is minus 329.97 for the insurance.
