A review of consumer complaints filed with the BBB of Chicago & Northern Illinois against Restaurant.com delineates a pattern of consumer allegations. 

In the complaints, consumers claim that the coupons they purchased were unable to be redeemed at restaurants, many stating that restaurant employees indicated they had either terminated their relationship with Restaurant.com or that they never entered into one to begin with.

On October 5, 2015 a review of the company's complaints further found consumer allegations claiming that the terms of purchase of a Restaurant.com coupon were unclear.

On October 14, 2015, Restaurant.com provided the following plan of action currently in place:

With regards to consumers not able to redeem coupons: Restaurant.com states that customers must now agree to the Terms and Conditions before purchasing a promotional certificate.

Also, Restaurant.com now provides an exchange program to enable the customer to exchange coupons for use at another participating restaurant.

Restaurant.com has also addressed past allegations from restaurant owners that they were signed up for the company's services without their knowledge or consent: Restaurant.com makes sure that the signup process includes confirmation that the person is the owner or is otherwise authorized to enter into an agreement on behalf of the restaurant,including sale of the dining certificates.

Restaurant.com has put multiple measures in place to ensure that their consumers understand their product before purchasing.

Per an April 15, 2016 review of newly closed complaints, the BBB found that although Restaurant.com provided procedures detailing how they intended to address consumer concerns, the pattern of consumer allegations has continued. At this time, the BBB has found that Restaurant.com failed to alleviate the pattern of complaints and will continue to monitor complaints against the business.

On October 5, 2015, the BBB contacted Restaurant.com to address several concerns regarding the company's marketplace practices.

Specifically, BBB has received a significant number of complaints alleging that the company sold coupons that were not able to be redeemed at restaurant locations, with several consumers also citing they were sold coupons for restaurants that were no longer in business by the date of attempted redemption.

Consumer complaints also allege that the terms of purchase of a Restaurant.com coupon were left unclear.

Per a review conducted on April 18, 2016, Restaurant.com failed to alleviate the allegations made by consumers as complaints continue to be submitted with the same allegations.
