Complaint: Our family replaced all of our windows and did so after an extensive look at what was available. Nu-Sash won our money by offering a good product with a lifetime warranty. Today one of the windows is defective and leaks. Nu-Sash states that Nu-Sash the company went out of business so there is no longer a warranty. When we made our purchase decision we were not told that Nu-Sash was a third party installer. These windows were sold as Nu-Sash Windows by Nu-Sash.
Desired Settlement: Replace our defective window
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/03/05) */ The manufacturer of the NuSash windows ceased operation in 2008-their action under bankruptcy protection left us and our customers with product warranties that were then null and void. After decades of working with that manufacturer we were left without the original supplier. We have continued to serve those customers by replacing their glass at issue with glass panels from a custom insulglass manufacturer in Chicago. The price quoted to this customer was minimally above the cost to me to order the glass, install it and charge a small truck charge. We cannot offer free glass on a warranty nullified by the manufacturer's bankruptcy. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/03/06) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Four Seasons Sunrooms by Nu-Sash supplied our family with windows with a written and implied lifetime warranty. During the purchase agreement Four Seasons NuSash (by the way why are they still called Nu-Sash) made a presentation that implied they were manufacturing the windows and they would provide a lifetime warranty. At no time did the sales team warn us that they were just a window installer and that the Lifetime warranty could be broken if the company they purchased the product from went bankrupt. I asked the question if the replacement window company goes out of business would they cover it and they now know to say NO they won't. People need to know that this company is just a group of guys with a truck, saw and nails. Final Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2015/03/26) */ Customer name: **** ******* To resolve this issue Weather Seal will provide the glass to the homeowner at our expense. Irregardless of whether there was or was not a warranty for the product, our charge to the homeowner would be $40.00 truck stop fee plus $74.00 per hour labor with a one hour minimum. The homeowner would have to agree to the $114.00 charge.
