Hired CAPPS Plumbing in October of 2022. Today is May 20 2023. We had a basement flood where water was coming out of the floor drain and we called them in to assess and fix the problem. They quoted us $14,000 to do a full overhead sewer conversion. We agreed and had them proceed with the work. *** came to do the work and they added to the cost to $18,000 because material cost went up. Then $20,000 cause they needed to bring in the electrician. Then they went up to $28,500 due to unforeseen circumstances that they should have seen since they went into the pipes with a camera. We ended up paying the final $28,500 for them to complete the work that they recommended to make sure my basement doesnt flood again. When they left my house, they damaged drywall when they were climbing in and out of the egress basement window and hid it with blankets and debris. There was also a smell of sewage that they did not address until the city told them they needed to come back and seal up any open pipes and get rid of any sewer gases. They came and sealed some up but left others because there is still a smell. Today, I called them because my basement was getting water again coming from the floor drain. They came out and checked the issue. They refused to fix the issue unless we paid them another $750 to clean the ejector pump bucket and hopefully that works saying that the ejector pump THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO EJECT P*** AND WASTE AND SINK MATTER FAILED AND IT WAS OUR FAULT because there was waste in the ejector bucket. THEY REFUSED TO WARRANTY THEIR WORK THAT WE HAD ALREADY PAID $28,500 FOR THEM TO FIX and wanted more money from us!In the end we lost $28,500 and we still have the issue that was supposed to be fixed to begin with which was water coming out of the floor drain. We do not want the company to come back and fix the problem anymore because we dont believe they will do anything in good faith. We prefer to hire someone else to properly fix the issue.

May 2022 Capps looked at a toilet that had been running for months. I tried fixing it, put new guts in the tank and it still ran. After looking at it, they couldn't figure it out and told me I had to buy a new one. The bill was $729!The toilet rocked every time I sat on it and the tank leaned against wall ruining the paint. It rocked so much that I thought i was going to fall. After a couple of months, I called in Aug 2022. They adjusted it by shoving shims under it. Fast forward to end of September/early October 2023, the toilet was running again. Called Capps. The guy said, if it's what I think it is, then it'll be about $300 to fix. I said I can buy a new toilet for less than that! And the guts for a toilet are $40! He said I'm actually saving you money because if you buy a new toilet I'll charge you $300 to install it. I said no thank you. I wasn't paying them that kind of money! I found a plumber in ***********. He changed the guts, problem solved. June 2023 I noticed water damage to my kitchen ceiling. I honestly thought it was water getting behind my old siding due to the proximity of the outside wall and where the damage was. Never thought a toilet installed by professionals was the problem. Long story short February 2024 realized the toilet leaked every time it was flushed! My friend and I took the toilet off and discovered that the new wax ring was put on top of the old one! Plumbing 101 - remove the old ring and clean the ****** before putting a new ring on! Capps denied any responsibility, saying there is no way to prove it was a bad install. They gave me $200 to make me happy and keep my business! Here's the kicker, I used them for the past 8 years because my family knew their family. They said $200 covers their obligation. Fine, but you aren't keeping my business. I will no longer refer them. It's obvious it was a bad install. I hired a contractor to clean mold, cut out bad drywall, patch, tape, mud and paint. I learned an expensive *******

Capps Plumbing & Sewer Inc Response

    04/02/2024

As discussed in great length, there were multiple factors involved in this matter that went against our warranty policy. The issue was reported beyond the 1-year warranty period for labor and material. Also, the toilet was manipulated by another party (prior to contacting us) which prevented us from determining if there was an actual defect in either labor or material. It was because of our longstanding relationship that we chose to provide you with a refund to help with some of the financial burden you experienced. We feel we went beyond our duties in providing any refund at all, and we're sorry to hear you remain dissatisfied with our services. Please call us at ************ to speak directly with our management team.
