My experience was horrific and distressing. Chalet planted five arborvitae I bought there a year ago, and they all died within four months. Chalets well-advertised free replacement policy is not straight forward. I was initially told by its inhouse expert that fungus was the culprit, which caused me great angst, as I have other well-established arbs close-by. After inspection and lab test by a local tree expert, he determined that fungus was not the cause, the replanting shock was. The fact that the established trees are still alive and well is a testimony that Chalets assessment was wrong. It took more than 31 emails with Chalets manager to get the trees replaced, except that within four months, the five new replacement trees are dying! I met with the tree expert again, and he confirmed that the shock from replanting is the culprit. I had followed watering instructions by the ** of ********* carefully both times. I anticipated that the replacement trees may not do well, and had asked Chalets manager: What if they dont? The manager was dismissive, and claimed that Chalet has done over and above what it is committed to do. Note: Chalet had initially agreed to give me slightly bigger trees to compensate for the time the dead ones would have grown to, and give me one more tree, knowing that at that time, I was working with its commercial division to buy more trees. On the day the five replacement trees were delivered, this freebie was missing. After planting, Chalet notified me that it no longer wants to do business with me. How convenient! Ten trees died within 14 months, something clearly is not right, either with the trees or the way they were planted! Also, having promised one extra plant (in writing) and then decide to back out with no notice? Chalet must be worried that I may not take delivery of the replacement plants and take other course of action against them. Indeed, I will share my disbelief and my god-awful experience widely.Customers beware!
