LawnWorks of Joliet came out to my residence in April and fertilized my lawn and left me a **** for the highest price of their service without any contact or request from me. I have been a long time customer that pays for a package ********************** offers in full at the beginning of each year, February or March. This year I did not send in any paperwork stating what service I wanted or any payment. When I called LawnWorks of Joliet they said they automatically continue services until I cancel it. It's also printed on their statements and they do their best to inform their customers. I never get statements because we always pay in full for the entire year. Again I have been a long time customer and even grew up and know the owners and never knew of this policy. I think this is a very deceptive practice that takes advantage of people. For LawnWorks of Joliet to put me in collections for $72.00 for a service I did not request or wanted is mind boggling to me. And I have asked several of my neighbors who I have referred to LawnWorks if they knew of this cancelation policy and not one of them knew about it. What if I had moved? Are they going to **** the new owner without any consent.

Unfortunately, Lawn Works disappointed us greatly. One of their workers used a riding spreader and scraped paint off of most of our fence posts. After we pointed this issue out to the owner, he refused to take responsibility for the actions of his employee. We canceled all future service with them and do not recommend this business to anyone. They do not run their business with integrity or honesty.

    LawnWorks of Joliet, Inc Response

    04/17/2023

Thank you to the BBB for the opportunity to respond. After the customer contacted the office with his concerns, a Service Call was scheduled and we responded within 3 days of the original service in question. The owner went to the customers property, with the rider. It was determined that there was no reasonable way that the rider could have caused the damage, for a few reasons. The damage was at the bottom few inches of each fence post. The only part of the rider that could hit that low would be the tires and they could not hit without hitting the ****** which sits about 3' higher. We have pictures of the damage and it is clear the rider could not have caused that damage. He would have had to of bounced off of every post, post to post, leaving marks at both levels, not just the bottom. Even then, there was an inside corner post with markings. You couldn't even drive the rider in there, and the marks were clearly from a string trimmer. The rider has a spread disbursement of about 8'. There is no reasonable reason for the technician to get within 3' of the fence to be able to spread the fertilizer, let alone hit every post, as the customer was suggesting. Other parts of the fence, individual pickets, also had some marks on them. Again, It appeared to our owner that the damage was caused by a string trimmer or maybe a push mower. Even our push spreaders have a wide disbursement. Again, no reason to even get that close to a fence. Certainly not every fence post.
