I purchased an engagement ring from New York Jewelers in *******, July 2021. The diamond ring cost $15,000. and was appraised for $19,000. I was told they do refunds/buy backs for diamonds and not altered settings. My engagement was cancelled and I made an appointment as requested and then I was told they only refund 50% on engagement rings. This is not stated anywhere on their website, the receipt, which they took, and not what they told me when I purchased the diamond less than a year ago(8 1/2 months to be exact). They would only talk to me if I made an appointment and couldn't even state the 50% refund when I called multiple times, emailed and spoke to different sales people. They only refunded me $7,500. My appraisal was also taken during this time. Very frustrating because I was obviously under duress and shouldn't have given them back the documents. I am just looking to be reimbursed what I was told during my purchase about returns and their buyback program. The ring was honestly in pristine condition, just as when I purchased it.
