Read Complaint Details
Complaint: The signed contract on 9/3/14 specified the replacement of the roof and front gutters along with an email that stated that work must be completed by 10/1. The weather was excellent for most of September, but they did not begin work until 9/18 after many calls. When they began work the crew tore off the old roof and gutters in a day and installed most of the new roof and back flat roof. They ran out of materials to finish. I inspected the work and found that they had installed roof vents when the contract clearly called or ridge vent. They also had not addressed the elevation of the roof over the entry. I was told they would be back to do this work and the carpenter would do the fascia board. The next day the crew corrected the vent issue, but the fascia board was not finished to the elevation needed for the correction to the front entry area. The crew was told to leave a gap and the carpenter would be back to finish later. The gutter crew then showed up, but since the fascia wasn't done they were sent home. Then the carpenter showed up a few days later after several documented called and finished the facia. However, the facia board on the south face was poorly installed, left a short spacer board, and was not cut even with the front facia. After repeated calls and promises the 10/1 date passed and no work was done. Then the salesman, ***, told me he had left the company and I should deal with the carpenter. After repeated calls and messages, and still no work, I sent an email and register letter with all of the complaint documentation on 10/11/14. The register letter was received on 10/15. It is now 10/17 and anther week has gone by. The letter stated that I will terminate the contract and seek another contractor after 10/26 if I don't hear from someone at Brighterside. As of 10/17/14 at 6PM I still haven't heard from anyone.
Desired Settlement: Complete work per contract including the statement, "Balance on SATISFACTORY completion." Specifically, fix all areas of fascia. replace the south fascia board so that the short board is replaced with a full length piece of fascia and installed so the board is level with the front board where they meet. Install the gutters per my specific specifications with the single downspout off of the south fascia. Remove all garage and contraction refuge.
