I ** LONGER TRUST REMINGTON AUTOMOTIVE, INC.I have been a good and loyal customer of Remington Automotive, Inc. for a very long time. The repair shop has worked on numerous cars for me in the past. The service was always good, fairly priced and honest. Back in 2020, I purchased a 2007 **************. Prior to purchase, I brought the truck over to them to inspect it. They did so and told me that it is a high mileage vehicle, but it is in great shape for its age, etc. I told the estimator that I plan to use the truck to haul my dogs and once or twice a year, travel up to my cabin in Northern *********. While here, I would rarely put more than 100 miles a month on the truck. The estimator gave me a solid Purchase this truck for that use. I fully understood that I would be putting some money into an older truck. In January of 2021 I was having problems with the serpentine belt coming off of the pulleys. Remington fixed the problem and I was on my way. Shortly thereafter, the belt came off again. I had it towed to Remington. They fixed it a second time. Shortly thereafter, it came off again, and again I had the vehicle towed to Remington. They fixed it a third time and told me that the reason the belt was coming off was that the pulleys were out of alignment. I would have thought they would have checked that the first or second time, but what do I know?When I arrived to pick up the truck; third time in 2 weeks, the new estimator, who I was now assigned to, sensed my frustration and told me it is an old truck . . . Then he proceeded to tell me that the technician found coolant in the oil and that the truck will need an engine replacement . This will cost $6,500.00 plus tax! (See estimate attached).I am fairly mechanical, so I asked the estimator why I need to have my entire engine replaced. He told me that I have a blown head gasket. Now when he made that recommendation, he never indicated that the shop could merely fix the head gasket (at a third of the price). Also, I spoke with my original estimator who I like and dealt with for a long time, he shrugged his shoulders when I reminded him that Remington inspected this truck before I purchased it and advised me that it was mechanically sound. He pretty much backed the new estimator and further stated what do you want tm to do?So, I was upset but more mad than upset, because I was pretty sure that the new estimator was completely full of **** and knew that I am a lawyer so . . . what the F, hes got the money! Im sure business was slow due to ***** and people driving less, and hes on commission so, ***** HIM!!!To satisfy my concerns, I took the truck to my Dads ace mechanic who only works on German cars. He drove the truck, then put it on the rack and inspected it and dumped the oil and said: this is a high mileage truck, but it clearly does not have a blown head gasket then went on to say there is nothing wrong with this truck.So now I have found myself a new, HONEST shop. They also confirmed that the engine is fine.What is so incredible to me is that I have been a Remington customer for a long time and instead of continuing the good customer relationship, they chose to F--- me instead. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN. DO **T TRUST REMINGTON! **** *****
