Complaint: I took my car to ***** Auto. They told me the muffled sound was because I needed front bearings also a thermostat, and brakes for my car. I let them fix it. When I picked my car up it was still making the same sound, I asked ***** why he stated because I need back bearings as well and really needed a catalytic converter like ASAP. At this point I'm furious and asked them why they didn't he tell me I needed a catalytic converter in the first place and ***** states he didn't notice the crack in it, clearly he was lying because he's a mechanic they know these things off top. So I was like OK whatever and left, a week later my car was still making the muffled sound and started making a ticking noise and leaking antifreeze, so I took it to another mechanic, he checked my car and noticed there was no oil in it and my engine had started to lock, that's why it started making the ticking noise. I told him I just got an oil change a week ago and he said that's impossible, wherever I took it didn't put any oil my car and damaged the engine. I went back to ***** Auto and told him there was no oil in my car, he lies saying he put 5 quarts of oil in my car, it must have burned out. How could 5 quarts of oil burn out in a week that's impossible, my car isn't leaking oil or anything. I called the police, they came to ***** Auto, I let them know he messed my engine up. I started crying and was just so upset at the whole ordeal. ***** agrees to put oil in my car and antifreeze, I told him its too late for that now, he then says now look you get the parts and I'll put them in for free. I said NO I want you to buy me a new engine because you didn't put any oil in my car and I was driving it for a week believing it was, and now my engine has locked. He said he's not buying me an engine, so I told him see him in court!
Desired Settlement: I want my car fixed, meaning my engine replaced and the antifreeze leak on my car fixed along with the catalyic converter.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 7, 2014/06/10) */ Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXX Contact Email: ******************@comcast.net June, X XXXX Case#XXXXXXXX To whom it may concern, Chris Auto Repair, Inc is responding to Mrs. ******* ******'s false claim. When Mrs. ****** came to my place of business April, 11 2014, she was looking for ******* ******, also known as ****** Auto", formerly located at **** ***** ******* *** ******** IL XXXXX; which is no longer in business at that location. This customer then came to Chris Auto Repair, Inc, with her list of repairs that she needed done; note that her vehicle was not diagnosed at Chris Auto Repair, Inc. She stated to me and several other individuals that she had an "alley mechanic" (her words) check her vehicle and further stated that she brought this car at a "Car Auction". According to her hand written list, the following items needed to be done: Thermostat and Gasket, Front Hub Bearings, Front Brake and Rotors, Oil Change, Electrical work (fix fuse on radio and window). Mrs. ****** was given a price of what the charge will be for the repairs that she requested to be done; she supplied her own parts. When her vehicle came in the following day; it had no oil in the engine, the engine was knocking and her vehicle had a crack on her front catalytic convertor. When the customer came in to pick her vehicle up, that fact was shown and explained to her, and that her vehicle needs further repairs. The electrical problem she is having in reference to her radio and window; vehicle need to be taken to a shop that does electrical work. It was also explained to her that her vehicle has a crack on her front catalytic convertor and her vehicle had no oil in her engine. Chris Auto Repair Inc. replaced her front hub bearings, rotors, brake pads, thermostat and gaskets, and completed an oil change. The customer was given a copy of the receipt for all repairs completed. The notation that the vehicle came in with no oil was stated on her receipt and signed by the customer. She was made aware of the issue of the vehicle leaking or burning oil. She did not want to pay for any diagnostic checks. If her engine is no longer working, it is due to poor maintenance, Chris Auto Repair Inc, in is not responsible. As in reference of having her vehicle checked by another mechanic; Mrs. ****** let an uncertified "alley mechanic" work on her vehicle. Mrs. ******* ****** phoned me approximately 3 weeks after having this work done at Chris Auto Repair Inc. She advised us that she took her vehicle to Byrd Auto (former tenant of ours) and was told by him that Chris Auto Repair Inc., didn't put any oil in her vehicle. It would have been IMPOSSIBLE for her to drive the vehicle for three weeks if that was the case. **** **** moved out of building due to not having a valid business license with the village of ******* and non- payment of rent. **** **** has resentment toward us for that. Mrs. ******* ****** was given a hard copy receipt, as well as an email copy of the fact that her vehicle had no oil in it when she brought her vehicle to us. Resolution: Clearly this claim is false and has no merit. We believe that Mrs. ****** is being provided false information by other sources. Chris Auto Repair Inc. would not put our name and reputation on the line over a $45.00 oil change. We certainly wouldn't point out to the customer that there is a problem with her vehicle holding oil on her receipt, not put oil her car, and let the customer drive away, knowing full well, that customer could check the "dip stick" a minute upon leaving our shop. This complaint is baseless and should be unfounded. Thank you, Chris Auto Repair Inc. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2014/06/10) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I definitely don't agree with Chris Auto's response. They are absolutely completely in fault for the damages to my vehicle. Since, they are not taking responsibility for their carelessness and refusing to fix my car, I will have to take them to court. They mentioned I got my car from an Auto Auction, that's right and my engine was fine. Also the guy **** ******** ******) mentioned was one of the mechanics I had examine my car once it started making the ticking sound. He is a licensed mechanic and highly knowledgeable when it comes to fixing cars, so his testimony is credible. He doesn't work for Chris Auto because they are crooks and was mad that ******* ****** was trying to help people and giving customers discounts on fixing their cars, and Chris was mad believing they were losing out on money. Also whatever dispute Chris Auto and ******* ****** had has nothing to do with me. Chris Auto never mentioned anything was wrong with my engine or catalytic convertor when I first took it to them, when they supposedly fixed my car and I went to pick it up that is when ***** tells me I need a catalytic convertor, but nothing about my engine. Like I stated before when I took my car to Chris Auto to be diagnosed they said the problem with my vehicle was that I needed front bearings and a thermostat, I also paid for brakes, and an oil change because my car was low on oil and antifreeze. Chris Auto's claim and response is false, they are responsible and liable for fixing my car. I've already spoken to my lawyer and will be pursuing further legal action! Chris Auto repair workers/mechanics are crooks, they are careless and irresponsible, and they will mess up your car with no regards to fixing it. I'm filing a lawsuit against them for not doing my oil change and messing up my engine. I advise anyone who plans on taking their car to them, don't! I definitely don't agree with Chris Auto's response. They are absolutely completely in fault for the damages to my vehicle. Complaint: I went to Chris Auto in ******* to repair a tail light shortage. at that time he stated that he repaired my fuse box for $75. A month later I began having problems with my interior lights as well as my head lights. At that moment I went back to Chris Auto to get that issue repaired in November. I was told that I had an electrical problem and that he would replace my wires for $200. The lights remained in proper condition for sometime with a couple of stops back to Chris Auto to get my tail light shortage repaired again. However, by ******* my car would not start without a jump start, my windshield wipers were not working, my power locks were no longer working, the interior lights were not operating properly, the head lights and tail lamps were not functioning properly, nor was my radio functioning properly. Before taking my car back to Chris Auto, I called Chris and asked him if the guy he had doing my electrical knew what he was doing since I was still having the same problems since October. I also took it to **** **** ****** to be inspected. There, I found out that the wiring that had been replaced was not insulated properly and that the fuses were too high for my car.
