BBB Customer Review Rating plus BBB Rating Overview
BBB Customer Reviews Rating represents the customers opinions of the business. The Customer Review Rating is based on the number of positive, neutral and negative customer reviews posted that are calculated to produce a score.
|Customer Review Experience||Value|
|Positive Review||5 points per review|
|Neutral Review||3 points per review|
|Negative Review||1 point per review|
BBB letter grades represent the BBB's opinion of the business. The BBB grade is based on BBB file information about the business. In some cases, a business' grade may be lowered if the BBB does not have sufficient information about the business despite BBB requests for that information from the business.
BBB Letter Grade Scale
Star Rating scale
BBB Customer Review Rating plus BBB Rating is not a guarantee of a business' reliability or performance, and BBB recommends that consumers consider a business' BBB Rating and Customer Review Rating in addition to all other available information about the business. If the BBB Rating is NR then only Customer Reviews are used for the Star Rating.

Complaint: I PAID SUTO PLUS $2,855.82 TO REPLACE ALL HOSES,SEALS,GASKETS AND BELTS ON ********** WHILE ON VACATION IN ***** ****** A HOSE BROKE CAUSING THE LOSS OF ANTIFREEZE IN TURN THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BURN-UP. I HAD TO PAY K&M REPAIR OF PUKWANA SOUTH DAKOTA $2,296.68 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.PARTS PLUS CLAIMES THAT DID NOT CHANGE THAT SPICIFIC HOSE SO THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE HOSE BRAKING;HOWEVER IF THEY THOUGHT THIS HOSE WOULD FAIL THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT WHICH I HAVE REQUESTED ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED DATE. NONE OF THE SEALS,GASKETS OR WATER-PUMP COULD BE REUSED.THESE ITEMS CAME WITH A WARRENTY OF 24 MONTHS PARTS AND LABOR.
Desired Settlement: PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE WHICH WAS $2,296.68 IN WHICH I PAID *** REPAIR TO REPLACE THE ENGINE
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/09/20) */ Contact Name and Title: **** ***** Owner Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXX Contact Email: ***********@yahoo.com BBB Case# XXXXXXXX On ********** Mr. **** brought his 1991 ***** ***** with 182,517 miles, in for us to inspect and repair oil leaks. We inspected, consulted and got his approval to do the work. See invoice XXXXX. The pipe cap that is in question was never replaced by my staff. I have attached pictures of this pipe sent to me from *** Repair in ***** ****** (the company that replaced the motor). It looks like an original factory clamp. For the engine to overheat to the point of ruining it, the temperature gauge on the dash would be well over the hot mark. Also, there would most likely be smoke coming from under the hood. In order to ruin the engine, the person must have continued to drive the car ignoring the signs of overheating. The engine was more likely ruined because the driver continued to drive it while it was overheating than anything my company had done to the vehicle on ********** None of the parts or work that we did contributed to the vehicle overheating. Mr. **** was informed of what parts were being replaced prior to the work being performed. This part in question was not replaced. It is not economical to replace every part on a vehicle. This vehicle has 182,517 miles on it and is 22 years old. For example, on his car, he also needed struts and the air conditioning condenser was leaking. We discussed these repairs with him and noted them on his final invoice. On an older car you run a higher risk of having parts fail down the line because some of the parts are 22 years old. We warranty the work that we perform; however, the part in question was not part of the job to seal up the oil leaks. In summary, we understand his frustration but for the following reasons do not feel we are responsible: 1. For a car to get hot enough to damage the motor there has to be some neglect from the driver. The driver did not heed the warning signs for overheating and continued to drive it in this condition. There is a temp gauge on this car to indicate the engine temperature and smoke must have been coming from the engine. When this occurs we always, always tell our client to immediately stop driving and turn the car off. 2. We simply did not touch or repair the part that failed five months later. The part that failed and caused the overheating was not replaced by us because it has a factory looking clamp on it. We do not use that type of clamp. It might be original or it could have been replaced by another shop during its 22 year life span. **** *****, Owner Final Consumer Response /* (4200, 16, 2013/10/16) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ALL THE WORK I REQUESTED WAS DONE THE HOSE THAT BROKE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED IT WAS AUTO PLUS WHO WAS AT FAULT FOR NOT REPLACIHG THIS HOSE AS I REQUESTED Final Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2013/11/14) */ Case #XXXXXXXX To Whom It May Concern: The engine manufacturer that our company uses does not warranty engines if they were damaged by overheating. Continuing to drive a car while it's overheating poses a significant risk to damage the engine. Whether or not a hose was replaced is not the cause of this problem. The cause is continuing to drive a car while it's overheating and ignoring the signs of it. The temperature gauge would have been in the hot area and smoke would have been coming from the engine.
