*********************** from Northshore Appliance Repair (Associated Repair) came to diagnose my Sub-Zero refrigerator that had stopped working. He told us that the central control assembly was not working and needed to be replaced. He quoted us $2,900 for the repair and said he would need to order the report. As I had no other options for the repair and no way to confirm the validity of the charge at the time (a Saturday), I told him we would proceed and gave him a $1,000 deposit. He told me that the part would be in no later than the next Wed (8/3) and he should be able to come on 8/4. I heard nothing from him all week and called him Friday am (today 8/5). He told me the part was not yet in and he could probably do it next Wed 8/10. Out of frustration on his communication, I called Sub-Zero, the local parts provided (referred by Sub-Zero), and another certified Sub-Zero repair company (also referred by Sub-Zero). As I was now skeptical of the quote I received and the integrity of Northshore, I asked them to confirm the quote I received. They all corroborated that the central control assembly cost is $200 and total cost of repairs might be a few hundred dollars more. Based on this information which suggested I was being egregiously overcharged by Northshore, I called ***********************. When I referenced the cost from the aforementioned sources, he said he would need to call me back. One hour later, he did not call me back. I called him again, told him I would like my money back and would be happy to pay him for the diagnosis, he told me the $1,000 was non-refundable and hung up on me. I left him two additional messages, again asking for a proper refund and he has not responded.
