Riser Animal Hospital has negligent billing practices that should be investigated. I visited Riser on 1/13/22 for a routine ****** ******** later got sent to a collection agency for a **** Riser never informed me existed. They had several chances to mention the **** but didnt. Right after the 1/13 visit Riser said I would get billed over SMS. Since 2020 Riser has only taken payment over the phone or via SMS. I never received a text & no one called for payment. Since I always pay Riser in full the day of service I later assumed Id paid. Also, I was in contact with Riser 5 times over ************ between 1/13 & today, leading me to think my **** was at zero.Today (4/4/22) I received a call from Risers number that sounded like a phishing scam. When I called Riser to warn them of the scammer, Riser said that the call wasnt spam, it was a collection agency due to an outstanding ****.When I said no one ever told me I had an unpaid ****, Riser explained they send 1 letter a month for 3 months & if no one replies it goes to collection. When I reiterated I never received any notice, they said the letters are out of their hands once they give them to ***** During the call I asked what address Riser had for ************************* recited an old address - despite me sending the right address earlier on 2/21/22.When speaking with Riser today I asked more about their *************** explanation changed. They said it wasnt 3 letters that go out but 1. *** said they used to send 2 letters but her boss Practice Manager ***** told her to start only sending 1. *** also confirmed that they have no record of Riser sending me a **** on 1/13. So in this case, 1 **** was skipped, another went to the wrong place, then I got sent to collection.Ive since paid but there are massive holes in Risers approach. The fact that Riser puts their customers in this position is despicable. Im hoping the BBB can investigate & help them course correct before this affects the credit of any other customers.
