The BBB would like to alert consumers that Atlantic Lending American Corp is an advance fee lender. Advance fee lenders are entities that fraudulently collect advance fees on loans which they do not deliver. Consumers are asked to send money upfront, allegedly for collateral, insurance, or due to bad credit, on the premise that Atlantic will subsequently wire the loan funds into the consumer's account.
As of November 30, 2007, the BBB has received 18 complaints from consumers who have paid hundreds to thousands of dollars in advance fees to Atlantic Lending American Corp and who have not received their loans nor their money back, as requested. Common signs of an advance fee loan scam include asking for advance fees on loans, requesting that the consumer wire the money to locations in Canada or to a different state- in this case New York- and subsequently asking for more money. Consumers who were victimized by this entity are encouraged to contact the Federal Trade Commission, the IC3 -Internet Crime Complaint Center- at www.ic3.gov, and Phonebusters -the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Center-at www.phonebusters.com. Consumers are also encouraged to file police reports.
The BBB would like to advise consumers that mail which was forwarded to Atlanding Lending American Corp at 227 W Monroe has been returned by the Post Office as undeliverable.
November 13, 2007 update - The BBB would like to alert consumers that Atlantic Lending American Group starting going by a new name- Plan Group Investment, at www.plangroupinvestment.net
This is the same advance fee lender and consumers are urged to exercise caution. Plan Group Investment is currently using a Milwaukee, WI address on its website, which is identical to the Atlantic Lending American Corp website.
