We have had a terrible experience with CHI Memorial Heart Institute. The doctor was ok but we are left with a astronomical bill for a treadmill stress test (NOT nuclear). They charged our insurance over $2200 for this test (which we need to pay b/c of the deductible) despite the fact that I called and spoke to multiple representatives regarding the max (out of pocket - not even with insurance) fee and it was under $1000 every time. In addition, the test was in Sept 2022 but we were not billed until late Jan 2023. Additionally, when my husband when back for additional tests in Oct 2022, he was there for over 5 hours during which time their systems went down completely, they told him he had appointments scheduled wrong but had him wait, eventually saw him but had no idea what to test him for so he had to tell them and then they did the wrong test and had to redo it. I called over 20 times to try to get answers and was completely sent in circles. I finally received a call from someone in the heart dept. and was told that "the systems went down and things were done by hand for month" (yet NO ONE called to tell us this and how we can trust things were done right if they lost all info in their systems?) I was also told "the charge for that test is $2200" BUT I spoke to two different reps, on two different occasions, who both quoted me an entirely different number and they said "they must have misunderstood" when I asked why the reps gave me the wrong number. We will NEVER use this hospital again as it's clearly a scam to get money from trusting patients and we are stuck paying a bill we should never have just so we don't get sent to collections.
