Key Staff

Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont is managed by a full-time professional staff and governed by a Board of Directors.
Thomas M. Bartholomy, President & CEO Responsible for directing Better Business Bureau of Southern Piedmont in accordance with directives from the Board of Directors and the standards established by the Council of Better Business Bureaus. Evaluates and monitors programs offered by BBB to promote self-regulation and ethical business practices.
Maryanne P. Dailey, M.A., NCDRC Certified Mediator Senior Vice President Provides oversight to BBB's consumer inquiry and complaint operations, serves as BBB's charity analyst, conducts investigations into unethical business practices and oversees all programs related to older adults.
Janet C. Hart, APR, CFEE, Fellow PRSA, Vice President of Public Relations & Communications Responsible for reputation management, public relations, media relations, internal and external communications, social media engagement, brand management, search engine marketing, digital and traditional advertising and website maintenance and management. Serves as primary media contact and spokesperson.
David Colson, Vice President of Business Relations Responsible for oversight and management of business development and Accredited Business relations.

Julia Brotherton, Director of Accounting & HR Administration

Responsible for financial accounting and reporting and purchasing. Administers and manages human resources activities.


Amanda Bryson, Director of Marketplace Practices


Responsible for investigating businesses, reviewing advertising and evaluating charities.

Kim Henderson, Director of Consumer Programs

Responsible for BBB’s Consumer Fraud Awareness Program, develops and manages events and services, provides presentations on consumer/financial fraud prevention to large and small groups for seniors and the military community, maintains (subscription-based email news and alert service for seniors, the military, and Spanish-speaking community).


Paul Bartholomy, Director of Business Relations

Responsible for lead generation, customer service and management of business relations representives.
Mary A. Schmitz, Manager, Operations Responsible for managing the BBB's Telephone Call Center and the Dispute Resolution Program.
Hilda Cohen, Leidy Gonzalez, Sandra McLaughlin, Elaine Mendez and Carla Yong Responsible for processing consumer complaints filed against area businesses and for fulfilling consumer inquiries concerning area businesses.

Barb Gallant, Margaret Hollis, Bob Parsons, Ron Pinnix, David Nelson and Chase Johnson, Business Relations Representatives Responsible for contacting business owners to provide information about BBB Accreditation Standards and Memberships and for providing customer service to BBB Accredited Businesses.
