Complaint Monday 9/28/15 came home and saw paint chips in the garage and looked at the ceiling and there was water damage. October 2014 Lep Roofing did a complete roof replacement on our home. On Monday evening 9/28/15 when we arrived home we notice some paint chips and when we looked up at the ceiling in the garage there was water damage to the ceiling. I called Lep Roofing company that same evening and left a voice message to have someone call me back. I also called a number that I had for one of their reps*********t that number was not receiving phone calls. On Tuesday 9/29/15 I made several attempts to reach someone and I also sent an email to -Chuck- and to Lep Roofing company to have someone contact me. Wednesday 9/30/15 I called again hoping to reach someone to no avail. I left another message and still have not heard from anyone. If someone had return the call we could have explain the problem to them.
Desired Settlement All we want is for someone to come out and repair the damage area and any damage to the drywall. It's a small area that is damage and we would like to have it repaired before it becomes larger especially since it has not even been a year since the roof was replaced.
Business Response So we had an issue with our servers and phone system and that is why we did not answer right away. But we went out and access the problem at the house and it is not a roofing issue or for that matter anything that we did wrong when we installed the roof. The design of the home is in such a way that water is running towards the wall and slamming againgst it therefor causing water to penetrate behind the wall and run sown the wall. The brick below is also wet. I took pictures of the home and the affected area. I also spoke to the homeowner and explained the problem as a matter of fact the problem can be resolved if she installed gutters so that the water would be.channelled.away from that area. The home.currently has no guttters.
Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) I spoke to Mr. **** the representative from Lep Roofing. He called me and I explained to him that the ceiling in the garage was leaking. He said he would come out to the residence and see if he could find where the water was coming from. He called me back and said that the water was hitting the roof/wall of the house and causing it to back flow back into the roof. He said it was how the house/roof was design that caused it to flow back toward the house. I called him back and told him I would meet him at the house so that he could show me what he was talking about. He said he would take pictures and email them to me. I never receive the pictures and by the time I arrived at the house he had already left. He did suggest that putting some gutters in that area would take care of the problem. One of my concerns was that before this roof was put on we didn't have that problem with the ceiling leaking. We will take the suggest and get some gutters put on and hopefully that will take care of the problem.
Complaint Did not complete job. When I first contacted LEP roofing, I was given a business card stating they were members of the BBB. At a later time I find out they were members in *******, not here in *** They were to completely replace the house roof including the attached double carport. The roofing around the chimney was to have been done with flashing and shingles as personally discussed with **** *****. This was never done. The roof was completed approximately Dec.2010-Jan.2011. I made at least two dozen calls to his personal cell phone, office in ******* and to his two managers in the ********** area. No one ever returned my calls. 30 year GAF shingles were used. Approximately two years ago, the area around the chimney began leaking in the house. The wood around half of the chimney was rotted and had to be replaced along with new flashing and shingles that had previously been agreed upon. This was done by a different roofer. The contract stated the roof was warranted for 5 years. During the past six months, stains on my den ceiling have appeared in one corner. My carport is dripping water. It takes time for water to seep through ceilings and began during the warranty period. Once again during the past month, I have sent e-mails to LEP roofing with no response.
My conclusion, LEP is a very unprofessional storm chaser.
Desired Settlement I have already spent $350.00 out of pocket for the chimney roof part repairs.
Just repair the leak in the den roof and carport roof.
Business Response We will contact this customer to set up a time to go by his house and look at what the problem may be.
Consumer Response From: **** ****** Sent: Tuesday, March 08, XXXX X:XX AM To: Better Business Bureau <************@bbb-email.org> Subject: Re: BBB Complaint Case# ****** (Ref#XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XX-XXXX)
As of today, LEP roofing has not contacted me.
Final Business Response We came out and looked at the concerns of the homeowner. Our project manager made the observation that the carport is practically flat roof very low slope. In certain parts the decking has Bow Down creating an area where water may be pooling and as a result the leaks. The shingles are in great shape also the installation of shingles is good unfortunately the expansion and contraction of wood is not a workmanship issue so as a result this problem is not is not covered under our workmanship warranty.
Final Consumer Response This is the first time I have heard LEP mentioning expansion and contraction of wood. The project manager had said nothing about it. But now it is not covered by warranty. Plus the carport roof is not almost flat. In addition, in their last response; LEP made no mention about the pitch of the roof where water stains are visible in our den. Were there expansion and contraction at the very top of the roof also?
Final note: LEP has no intention of repairing the roof. Stay away from this contractor whose business is chasing storms in several southern states. You get what you pay for!
