Stated Purpose United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. is an autonomous organization that supports 98 agencies as well as other service providers that serve individuals in Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Mooresville-South Iredell, and Union counties. United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. is governed by a local board of directors made up of volunteers from these four communities. These volunteers, along with thousands of others, plan and organize the annual fund raising campaign, collect contributions, and determine how United Way's Community Care dollars should be distributed to service providers and agencies. |

Programs United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. provides services to the community both through internal programs and initiatives, as well as funding of essential programs that are administered through its member health and human service agencies and focus area grants recipients. The annual campaign funds programs and services that support five Community Impact Areas: Preparing children to succeed, Promoting health and wellness, Strengthening youth, families, and communities, Increasing self sufficiency, and Helping seniors and disabled live independently. Each of these impact areas is established on the premise that all residents in the community will enjoy equality of opportunity, and will experience understanding, respect, and goodwill of others. United Way of Central Carolinas, Inc. operates, through its volunteers and staff, the following internal programs and initiatives: Community Investment (Grants and Member Agency Fund Distribution), Success by 6, Community Works (Community Planning), Public Policy, United Way 2-1-1 (Information and Referral Services), Regional HIV/AIDS Consortium (13 counties) and Volunteer Center.
