Asked them to come verify work they did for our VA inspection that failed less than a month after VA inspection.
Invoice*****, we left a voicemail asking if they wanted to come see if the leaking A/C that was warping our floor was from them doing an improper inspection on 7/29/14. A man showed up on a Sunday, we didn't say he had to come out, I had asked if they wanted to verify their work, he looked, did NO work and said it was plumbing attached to the A/C so it wasn't their work. He left, NOT saying we'd be billed for a service call since we WOULDN'T have let him in or had him come if we were going to be billed. Now they are trying to bill us $99 for a service call that we DIDN'T want.

Desired Settlement
Just want them to leave us alone and stop trying to collect $99 since we DIDN'T have them do work or request them to come out for them to work. We called as a courtesy to them to verify their work.

Business Response
We, ****'s Heating and Cooling were contacted on 7/10/14 by one of our customers, a real estate broker to set up a time to do a home inspection for the Air Conditioner Unit and inspect it. We contacted the owner /tenant,***** to set a time and day. On 7/15/14 the service technician went out to the above address and did what ****'s Heating and Cooling were asked to do. The service technician found no problems and the unit was working fine.
On 8/24/14 on a Sunday morning at 10:14am ****'s Heating and Cooling received a voicemail from Ms. ****** at the above address saying, 'I have water pouring onto my hardwood floors and they are being ruined. Someone needs to get out here now to the above address and fix this problem or I am calling my lawyer.' Company calls go through our computer and we can go back and listen to all our voicemails. They are dated and time stamped.
On 8/24/15 our service technician went out to the Ms. ******'s house and found that it was the drain line to the plumbing that was broken. It was not an air conditioning problem. The service technician told Ms. ****** she would have to call a plumber. ****'s Heating and Cooling is a licensed HVAC company. Our company is not licensed to work on plumbing.
On 8/26/14 ****'s Heating and Cooling billed the real estate broker for the service we performed on 7/15/14 and also billed Ms. ****** at the above address for the service call on Sunday 8/24/14. The real estate broker paid his bill on 11/2/14. Ms. ****** still had not paid. It was sent again on 11/2/14. ****'s Heating and Cooling called the real estate broker telling them what happened and Ms. ****** had not paid. ****'s Heating and Cooling was told the house was sold and closed on 7/29/14. That the new owners, **** and ***** ****** would be responsible for that bill since they called us out to their house.
On 12/8/14 ****'s Heating and Cooling left a voicemail on Ms. ******'s phone about the bill.
On 2/27/15 ****'s Heating and Cooling sent Ms. ****** another past due invoice to please pay to avoid late fees and that it is 6 months past due.
On 4/3/15 ****'s Heating and Cooling called Ms. ****** about the past due bill. Ms. ****** was very rude and obnoxious. Saying she is not paying the bill, something about warranty work and Ms. ****** was calling BBB. ****'s Heating and Cooling tried to explain to Ms. ****** we can't do warranty work on plumbing and she hung up the phone on us.
On 4/3/15 Ms. ****** was sent another collection letter for the past due invoice.
On 4/10/15 Ms. ****** sent us an ugly email saying we didn't fix the problem or do any work. Saying we were trying to extort military and first time home buyers.
As of today 4/16/15 Ms. ****** still has not paid the bill. ****'s Heating and Cooling still have not added any late fees or turned it over to the credit bureau.
Unfortunately, companies can't work for free. ****'s Heating and Cooling charges a service call to go out to customers. We did what Ms. ****** asked us to do and now Ms. ****** doesn't want to pay the bill.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We weren't told there would be a fee nor did we sign a work order. I wasn't ugly to them until an attitude was coped by their female rep who kept calling me honey. I'm not her honey nor are we personal acquaintances. I didn't ask them to work for free. I asked if they wanted to check that they had inspected the unit correctly. With it not working I wouldn't have chosen them to come out to do any repair work because I feel their service was inferior. I was giving them an opportunity to come and verify their work. The A/C until had a drain problem and there was water on all the pipes which weren't insulated properly. If I thought it wasn't an error on their part I would have called a LOCAL company.
Again, they didn't have to come out. I called them referencing the home inspection and there was no mention of fees. I feel they're sneaky business practices are proven by them not having us sign a work order or notifying us that there would be a charge.
