Programs

Founded in 1998, Ride On St. Louis (ROSL) is a community-based organization designed to provide equine-assisted activities and therapies to developmentally and physically disabled individuals and at risk youth living in the Metropolitan St. Louis and surrounding areas. Hippotherapy and therapeutic riding are treatment alternatives to traditional clinical setting whereby patients are influenced by a horse rather than by physical therapy machinery. It is the goal of ROSL that each student achieves at least one incremental and sustaining improvement in his or her quality of life by using our Equine Assisted Therapy program to achieve emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual benefits. ROSL offers three different types of riding programs for clients to participate. Hippotherapy, Therapeutic Riding, and Sports Riding. Riders are placed into the appropriate program by the ROSL team which consists of a Therapeutic Riding Instructor, Physical Therapist, or an Occupational Therapist. Clients range in age from 2 years to 69 years of age and have been diagnosed with; Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Spinal Cord Injury, Mental Retardation, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida, and Visual Impairment. ROSL is a member of; The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, Intl. (PATH formerly NARHA); The Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association (EFMHA) and The American Hippotherapy Association (AHA). ROSL is one of over 700 independently operated PATH centers in North America. Each of its instructors is PATH certified or registered with the AHA, and the center follows standards and guidelines which have been put into place for the safety of all riders.
