Standard 6: Board Policy on Effectiveness - Have a board policy of assessing, no less than every two years, the organization's performance and effectiveness and of determining future actions required to achieve its mission.

This organization does not have a board policy on assessing organizational performance and effectiveness. 

Standard 7: Board Approval of Written Report on Effectiveness - Submit to the organization's governing body, for its approval, a written report that outlines the results of the aforementioned performance and effectiveness assessment and recommendations for future actions.

This organization does not have a board policy on assessing organizational performance and effectiveness. 

Standard 14: Budget - Have a board-approved annual budget for its current fiscal year, outlining projected expenses for major program activities, fund raising, and administration.

The budget provided by the organization does not clearly identify the projected amounts to be spent on program service activities, fund raising activities, administrative activities, and does not identify the projected amounts to be spent on each of the major program service activities.

Programs

              

The Brain Injury Association of Missouri, founded in 1982, is a community based organization serving survivors of brain injury, their families, caregivers and professionals by increasing the public awareness about the impact of brain injury and educating the public about prevention. The Association is committed to providing various recreational, respite and self advocacy opportunities for survivors and their families and strives to remain in the forefront of legislative issues that can impact survivors of brain injury. Our programs and services include: A toll-free help line that provides information and referral services at no cost to the family or survivor. A Resource Library that includes: educational articles, books and videos on brain injury. Production of resource packets for survivors, families and caregivers which are mailed, at no cost to those in need. The Donald Danforth Jr. Wilderness Retreat, a social integration program that includes a week long organized outdoor experience designed to build the self-esteem of persons with brain injury and provide respite for the families or caregivers of the survivors. Educational conferences, and in-services training programs attended by family members, survivors and health care professionals, including the only state-wide conference dedicated to brain injury related issues. The Jim & Lori Winter Scholarship awarded to high school juniors & seniors who have overcome brain injuries and are advancing their education. Prevention programs which encourage individuals to use seat belts and teach children to wear helmets, along with the distribution of free bicycle helmets. Support groups and mentoring programs for children, adolescents, adults and their families to help them with issues associated with traumatic brain injury.
