Programs

The Walker Scottish Rite Clinic has been a resource for parents of children with speech and language disorders for over twenty years and currently serves over 1,000 children annually in six key locations; mid-town St. Louis (Grand & Lindell), Elsberry, Union, Crystal City, and services in two of the Grace Hill Head Start preschools in the City of St. Louis. Services include screenings, evaluations, individual and group therapy, audiological evaluations, and parent training. All services are provided free. Typically 110-120 children are in active therapy at any given time and therapy may last anywhere from a few months to several years. 46% of the children are seen in the main St. Louis Clinic, 36% are seen through the KidTalk Outreach Program and 18% of the children are seen through the KidStart Program. The KidTalk Outreach Program includes the community sites in Elsberry, Union and Hillsboro/Festus. The KidStart Program serves children from low-income families enrolled through Grace Hill Head Start preschools in the City of St. Louis. Community Speech and Language Screenings through our KidScreen program is also another key element of our program strategy. In 2008, 785 children were screened at over 12 participating local daycares and preschools; all screenings were performed at no charge.

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2008, WSRCCLD's program expenses were:
