Programs

Epworth Children & Family Services is a 143-year-old, Joint Commission accredited agency providing residential care, intensive treatment, special education, family reunification, emergency shelter, transitional living, independent living, aging out services, and foster care case management for St. Louis area children and youth. Epworth is one of the largest children’s social service agencies in St. Louis and is one of the few agencies in the region specializing in serving older youth ages 7-21. Epworth currently provides direct services for over 800 at-risk youth per year, ranging in age from 7 to 21 years (a total of 1,800 are served annually, including family and indirect services). These youth are typically experiencing a variety of mental, emotional, and behavioral health issues, often stemming from a history of neglect, physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse. Because upon entering Epworth these youth are in various phases of recovery, Epworth’s broad treatment continuum is designed to address individual needs and encourage self-sufficiency. The agency’s philosophy is to “teach how” as opposed to “do for,” so that children and their families will be ready and able to stand on their own.

For the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006, ECFS's program expenses were:

Residential Treatment 4,074,432

Community Living 1,011,290
