Programs

              

Education OASIS designs educational programs in arts, humanities, and other subjects for a broad audience of lifelong learners. Topics include creative writing, the Immigrant Experience, sculpture and philosophy. Health OASIS offers nationally developed behavior-change health education programs emphasizing increasing awareness, knowledge and skills for older adults to address their individual health needs. Program areas include nutrition, exercise, disease management, sensory changes, mental health and general health promotion. Volunteer Service OASIS cooperates with 36 school districts and 272 schools to offer the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program. This program matches trained volunteer tutors with primary grade children to build reading skills, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning. Technology OASIS provides a variety of computer courses for its participants including Microsoft Word, Excel, Quicken, Introcution to the Computer and To the Internet. St. Louis OASIS also participated in a project assisting older adults to improve their technology skills to make it possible for them to re-enter the workforce.
