Programs

              

Community volunteers opened Youth In Need’s Emergency Shelter in 1974 when the area’s homeless and runaway teens were being housed in the county jail. Thirty-seven years later, Youth In Need still provides its flagship program. Since then, the agency has grown to provide a variety of prevention and intervention services to more than 12,000 children, teens and families every year. Services include residential group homes, counseling and support groups, infant, child and family development programs, homeless street outreach, before-and after-school programs, foster care case management and Project Safe Place. Youth In Need employs more than 375 staff and its service area spans 100 miles and includes St. Louis City and St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren and Montgomery Counties in Missouri. Recognized for its reputation for excellence, Youth In Need is accredited by the Council on Accreditation and is a recipient of the United Way of Greater St. Louis’ highest possible quality rating.
