Programs

              

The St. Louis-based Parents as Teachers National Center is the accrediting body for nearly 3,100 local PAT programs worldwide. Last year these programs served nearly 250,000 families with children ages prenatal to 5 years. The program includes personal visits, parent support group meetings, early health, vision, hearing and developmental screenings, and referrals to community resources as needed. The program goals are to increase parental knowledge of early childhood development, improve parenting practices, provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues, to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to increase children’s school readiness and school success.
