Evaluation Conclusions

              

Neighborhood Houses (NH) does not meet the following 3 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Standard 16: Annual Report - Have an annual report available to all, on request, that includes: (a) the organization's mission statement, (b) a summary of the past year's program service accomplishments, (c) a roster of the officers and members of the board of directors, (d) financial information that includes (i) total income in the past fiscal year, (ii) expenses in the same program, fund raising and administrative categories as in the financial statements, and (iii) ending net assets.

The organization states it does not have an annual report covering activities conducted in the past year.

Standard 17: Web Site Disclosures - Include on any charity websites that solicit contributions, the same information that is recommended for annual reports, as well as the mailing address of the charity and electronic access to its most recent IRS Form 990.

The organization solicits donations online; however, it does not have its annual report information or a link to its most recent IRS Form 990 on the site. 

Standard 18: Privacy for Written Appeals & Internet Privacy - Address privacy concerns of donors by (a) providing in written appeals, at least annually, a means (e.g., such as a check off box) for both new and continuing donors to inform the charity if they do not want their name and address shared outside the organization, (b) providing a clear, prominent and easily accessible privacy policy on any of its websites that tells visitors (i) what information, if any, is being collected about them by the charity and how this information will be used, (ii) how to contact the charity to review personal information collected and request corrections, (iii) how to inform the charity (e.g., a check off box) that the visitor does not wish his/her personal information to be shared outside the organization, and (iv) what security measures the charity has in place to protect personal information.

The organization does not have an online privacy policy.

Programs

              

* After School Education & Social Development -- Provide a safe, nurturing environment for school-age children and youth during non-school hours that promote the development of social skills as well as provide academic support so that they may succeed in school and in life. * Resident Camp -- Provide children and youth the opportunity to experience the outdoors and acquire the social skills needed to succeed in life. * Day Camp -- Provide a full day of educational, recreational and enrichment activities during the summer months. * Early Childhood Care and Education -- Provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children, ages Six-weeks to 5 years. * Comprehensive Emergency Services -- Assist families with meeting their basic food and clothing needs * Health N.O.W. -- Increase access to preventative and restorative care for low-income families. * Connecting Fathers and Children -- Provide over 40 non custodial, low income fathers with the necessary social competencies and facilitate any needed behavior changes to enable them to become responsible fathers and active participants in their children's lives. * Visitation Center – We provide a clean, safe, home-like environment for children in foster care to develop positive relationships with biological family members and restore trust. The Visitation Center serves as a child-friendly place where families can share food and conversation while children play with toys and games. It is an alternative to office-supervised visitations, offering a sense of normalcy.
